Saw Bob LIVE once, at Expo '86, Vancouver; did all the classics... From "Catch-22", to waking up from a dream to end "Newhart", he will always have a special place in my entertainment heart.

It's hard to believe he's gone. I grew up on Bob Newhart. I am 56 yrs old. We watched his first show, and became crazy fans of the 2nd one. The 2nd show sort floundered a bit during the 1st season. Kirk was a really fun character. They were smart to get Scolari and the actress that played Stephanie. 😂 Oh Bob, we needed you then, and we need you NOW, more than ever. ❤

Love Bob Newhart! Sadly, his wife Ginny died earlier this year - on April 23, 2023. Bob will be 94 in a few weeks. He did an interview, I think it was on Colbert about a year ago and was still cracking jokes! Last year on his birthday, he said, “I still feel like 30, except when I try to run.”

I love Bob Newhart. Hearing him talk about his wife on the first show played by Suzanne was wonderful. They did have a great chemistry in the show and it was an amazing show. Then he says we should all loosen up a bit. Bob is a class act....Period......End of story.

You'll never see the Talent and Grace of these men and some of the women Carol Burnett, Phyllis Diller etc, again unfortunately. Our parents introduced them to us one by one when they would come on the television.... It didn't take long to appreciate what they were doing. If it was even slightly risqué , you figured it out when you got a little older. Then a little later you got to see the appreciation guys like Dennis Miller had for this crowd and their craft..... Now Dennis has gone off into the either. I think he was very fond of Johnny Carson and like Johnny.... Dennis didn't want to wear out his welcome. Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio, and nation turns lonely eyes to you⁉️

@@theolamp5312 Hi Ted. My middle name is Teddie! My mom used to call me Ted. It is nice to talk with someone who knows and appreciates the classic ones also. When I was a kid my dad came home with this LP by Bob Newhart. I remember that I was laughing hysterically and thought that I could actually die from laughing. He brought home, Bill Cosby, something about Chicken Heart. I have always been so grateful to my dad for bringing the gift of laughter and the joy of reading. I watch a lot of Reaction Videos. They are fascinating. You get to watch people watching something you like. To watch the young people getting turned on to George Carlin. They hang on every word he says, eyes wide open and mouth agape as they listen to what he is saying about the government, etc. Maybe you could check some out sometime. Oh, Have you have ever seen the movie "it's a mad mad mad world"? It is so funny and has many of the great comedians of the day Think it came out in the 1960s and I just saw it advertised on youtube. Sorry, this is so long. I wish you the best of all life has to offer, Teddie!

"You stay out of my show and I'll stay out of yours" Thats the genius that comes out on the fly, as opposed to the hack that made me fast forward to this point. I was yelling at him to shut up and leave the comedy to Bob. Even when it was written for him it was terrible and then in one line Bob soothed my comedy soul.

In 2021 it is greatly refreshing to not be be-labored by political jokes. We all need a break, and a return to humor that is actually funny without a political agenda. I wish SNL could figure this out, so I can enjoy them again. Same for the Murphy Brown re-boot. We’re tired of endless lecturing, moralizing, and instruction. Let us laugh!

i miss Richard Pryor a lot. There is no one like him. He is very special. I would miss George Carlin, but that’s impossible to do. He’s everywhere on YT. he was pointing out the amurica of today in the 80’s and 90’s. Gene Wilder was great, too. So many comics and comedic actors to miss. Bob Newhart wasn’t right, comedians are very important to a nation’s zeitgeist. Thank god, we’ve gotten past that horrific you can’t hurt Anybody’s feelings. That’s one thing that comedy is for - to laugh at your own foibles. The Jewish comics of the 50’s were great at that!! I am very glad there are jokes that aren’t told anymore - women drivers and mother-in-law jokes among them. But relationships are still a mine full of funny situations. Just look at all the sitcoms!!!! Thank you, Bob🍻😋for making us all laugh all this time including your stints on Big Bang Theory :) 😸🌷🌱😊

It's Spanky to you huh? Candy pants.... Tell the world what an asshole you are every day like this. You're the kind of shithead we can all do without. Your lack of grace and intelligence is on display for the whole world. We get to talk about it here for less than a minute because that's a little anyone cares about people like you. Trump accomplished more in any given afternoon of his life than you ever will. He cares about this country and he's trying to save it. Learn a few magic tricks from your personal demonic overlords. You'll never measure up as a man in God's image, but at least you'll be interesting in parties for five minutes.... Take your sorry narrow minded ass to the curb......

It stayed funny cuz he committed to the bit and even that he did that subtle mallet as a phone and I don't think anybody caught it he did that on purpose or hate you he switched sides with the Bob side and his side and then talking about Republican Democrat oh my God right and left, if that it couldn't have been planned if it was so subtle, and then he started talking on the phone so this boss wouldn't know that he was doing a bad job, at the same time that's so great, the reason it worked was because he committed to the bit, he kept doing it it made it, funnier

He looks like an accountant who entertains other accountants. You keep hoping the next bit will be hilarious - as per the hype. Eventually, as an old man, he turned into a character: a version of himself. Kind of like when you look at a woman and think she might have been beautiful when she was young.

Back when a $4B deficit was a lot of money rather than the roundoff error it is 29 years later. Goes to show you the dangers of endless spending of money you have to print rather than confiscate from the taxpayers. At this rate, the annual deficit will be a few hundred trillion dollars when my grandchild hits 30. The good news is that her weekly take home pay will be $3.5B. I guess .....
