Wow Bret is such a weird, humble, and funny guy. Still the same as when I first become a fan when I found out about him through twisted metal. Bret, please don't change!
I saw him live with Celldweller at Dragon Con 2010. I got to spend a little bit of time with him a few times after shows. He is as odd in real life as he is on here
The man the myth the legend Blue Stahli!!!. Thank you for what you do!!.. The world that your music creates for my mind is incredible!!. Never stop being A master musican!.
I don't have as amazing of a story for the Spinal Tap moment, but I had gremlins in the system. The band I was in was an electro-rock band. SOME songs had backing tracks, but not all. And I had taken over for a keyboard player who was increasingly unavailable for the band (at the time I was more of a live energy/synth percussion/backing vox aspect of the band). Because he was light years ahead of me in the keyboard skill department, he tracked all the important parts and locked them in to Digital Performer. Meanwhile I am a Reason guy (this was just before Reason became a full studio DAW). So he set up my laptop to run Digital Performer with Reason as the slave, so that I could still do my small keyboard parts as well as my percussion. For some odd reason, it would be flawless in practice. But a good 50% of the time, whether it be sound check or in a couple cases, the MIDDLE of a show, audio would simply stop feeding to the board. It's amazing I didn't have a meltdown on stage. lol.
