National Three Peaks Challenge 18/19 June 2016. Climb Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon up and down in under 24 hours. Five good friends from the midlands give it there best shot. Will they do it? You will have to watch it to see.....
Yet another group with the start time wrong, there is no need to be on any of the hills in the dark. Start up Ben Nevis should be as late on a summer afternoon as practicable,. depending on the fitness of the weakest member of the group. Late afternoon, even as late as 1800 hours for the fit and experienced mountain walker, with an aim to be descending the Ben in in early twilight.. That enables a start up Scawfell just before dawn with daylight before you get on the mountain. The fit and expereienced can do the 3 hills in under 8 hours which leaves ample time for the driving, even a stop for a good meal.
Thanks for the comment. We were fully aware of the start times to do the complete trek in the light. We were meant to start at 4/5pm but got board so went earlier 😆 All adds to the adventure. We are just a group of mates having fun.
@@kevinsimons9264 Understood. I did it way back in 1964 but have driven others since. My observation is that most of those who do it are very limited in experience and fitness, for them it is a real physical challenge, rather than the bit of fun it was for me and my pals, my remark is for those people. Even so called "organised "groups seem often to have inexperienced, tired teenagers on Scawfell, in the dark and sometimes adverse weather, so my advice is for them. Summiting Scafell in the very early morning ought to be a great experience.
@@cdraynes5129 Yes there was a of shall we say groups ill prepared. I fully understand where you were coming from. If you look in the background when we were at the summit of Snowdon there is a chap in a T-shirt! I can assure you the weather was shite and cold even though it was June. That’s folk for you. Also been up there in early March in a white out and came across a group of lads in hoodies and no coats. Had a word with them and to there credit they turned back. Hope you liked my video. I know they are not professional they are just for my memories. Off to France in a couple of weeks to do the Tour De Mont Blanc so keep an eye out for that video 👍
