I travelled the short distance into the Kent Countryside to visit the Chartwell Estate - the family home of Winston Churchill, who was arguably one of the most important world leaders in the 20th century. Due to lockdown restrictions in Great Britain, I visit only the National Trust gardens, but also take in the beautiful bluebell woods at Emmetts Garden too. This is my 5th travel Vlog in my Spring in South East England series, featuring interesting and beautiful day trips from London.

I've been visiting a lot of National Trust properties and gardens of late. Do you have a favourite you could recommend, or one you'd like to see me visit? Let me know here in the comments as I'm always open to suggestions!

What a BEAUTIFUL house and garden! I can't believe how much history you guys have. A house built in the 14th century?! That's hundreds of years even older than our country! We really hope to be able to make it back to the UK once the world returns to normal, and it's so fun learning of locations off the beaten path that would be fun to see! Really glad we found your channel, and look forward to seeing more! Just subscribed, and cheers from the USA! 🇺🇸

Thank you so much for such a lovely comment. My mind gets blown by how old some of our properties are too! I've loved travelling in the US - where are you guys from over there?

Sir Winston Churchill is one of my historical heros. I often read and share his quotes and speeches.

Me too! During lockdown last year all of us teachers were asked to record us saying a quote to help keep our students motivated and I went straight for a Churchill quote! 🙌

Very informative, I would never have thought that was a swimming pool! Looks like a very peaceful area with lots of fascinating history. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for saying that ❤ 9 times out of 10, my partner is with me on the adventures and he will often film me. On the odd occasion when I'm out on my own I just use my tripod for a lot of the shots. I hope this helps :)

Lovely vídeo and music. By chance, would you know if you can walk from Sevenoaks going to westerham via chartwell and emmets garden? I’ll be a tourist in London. Regards

Hi David. It's certainly possible. If getting the train to Sevenoaks, you'd want to walk south from the station to get to the Greensand Way and walk west on this. It will take close to Emmets Garden first, and Chartwell later. This website, and particularly the map further down the page may be of help: www.ldwa.org.uk/ldp/members/show_path.php?path_name=Greensand+Way but after Chartwell it's trickier to get to Westerham as there's not a well marked path like the Greensand Way meaning you'd want an OS map and good map reading skills, or to walk the country lanes. Not sure if you need to be in Westerham, but there's no train station there. Oxted is a better bet as the Greensand Way will take you there and there are direct trains into London from Oxted. It would be a very long day out though and you may feel rushed at Emmetts Garden and Chartwell if also needing to do all of the walking and the train journeys as the walking distance is a good few miles between each. I know Sevenoaks has a Premier Inn so you could stay there the night before allowing you to set off early. I hope this is helpful.

@@WhenAdventureKnox that's more than helpful. Most kind of you. I did google it, but all the walks seemed to be only different sections in the area rather than from sevenoaka to westerham via the attractions. That has bee super helpful. Best wishes for your channel
