Native American Silver Jewelry

Amazing! When I was a little girl, my dad's Uncle owned " The Wig Wham Shop." It was in Northern MN, out of Grand Rapids toward northeast. He was a jeweler. He wasn't Native American, but the shop was in the area of where they lived and many worked with him in the shop. I have pieces from the 1960's that are made from copper. I had other pieces with stones, but have been misplaced now. I really loved your video, thank you!❤

Stunning collection!

A year ago I found a Navaho pendant on a Japanese beach metal detecting. Some Japanese are into Navajo, Hopi and Zuni style jewelry. In the last 3 months I've began purchasing American Indian jewelry at some 2nd hand stores here in Japan. I now have 2 Navajo pendants. 2 Hopi pendants and 2 Hopi Rings. I was looking at a Zuni pendant, but the price was beyond my wallet. There was also some fake Navajo wrist band. They claimed it was silver, but it was Aluminum. Couldn't believe they were trying to claim it as silver. Something of note is that some Native American silver has a higher silver content than standard 925 sterling. Nice video.

Great educational video by a native American who knows his stuff. The only problem I have is that I was trying so hard to hear what you are saying because the music was too loud, next tme the music should be heard in the background so we can hear you clearly. :)

I recently bought a Navajo bracelet for $75 from a pawn shop....it has 3 prong arm band, roping added in between, with a oval shaped cabochon turquoise that is greenish-blue broken up by a brownish-red matrix that shows in the sun light....its not stabilized ....I can feel the veins in between the turquoise and at the sides the matrix is a little rough.....the cabochon is approx. 1-1/4 inches long it sits about 1/4 high on a bed of 8 silver feathers with a few rain drops in between with a curly -q at 1 & 7 o'clock on each end......the turquoise looks like broken large pieces with smaller pieces through out and on the edges....after I got home I rubbed the back/flat part of the bracelet and discovered a signature....P. Binn or Bisne-ta?.......Navajo? its written in cursive , so I can't quite make it out.....I absolutely love it!....but I don't know what type of turqouise it is....Kingman?.....Bisbee?.....or what?....Im in the midwest and there aren't any jewelers that I know of who can tell me.....clearly the guy who sold it to me...had no clue....we are still dealing with the Corona...and he didn't want to touch it because the silver was very dark etc.....he was worried about germs....so his lost....my gain!

Kyolm, Good questions. I personally believe that the highest quality Turquoise is determined by the gemological qualities. Having said that, the majority of the people in the Turquoise industry also factor in the supply each mine produced, when the mine closed, and other factors that make material from a certain mine scarce. We also factor in the aesthetically value. Many collectors believe that Spiderweb Turquoise is the most valuable, especially American and Japanese customers. Spiderweb Turquoise the rarest look of Turquoise from any mine. Having said that lately Sleeping Beauty Turquoise has sky rocketed in price and has become the most desirable Turquoise in China. The rare lime green Turquoise are highly valued. Dendrite Turquoise is highly valued. So, I think your question is a loaded question and not easy to answer. My best answer is that if you base the quality on gemological factors such as hardness, you will find the best quality, then from that point each buyer needs to base the worth on what they like as far as looks. Hope this helps.

Lovely music but it is too loud

I have a piece of maybe the Inlay type.. It was was my Mother who gave me alot of Antique jewelry art,etc of everything..its triangle like bit rounder on the side so its slanted like, a picture carved with 980 metal and more markings. It is an old pin and also a place made to wear it as a necklace..I think A king?? Chief or? Has Maybe kind of shell in areas the silver is not.. Maybe IF I can find Markings of what's on the back I would know more?? Do you take pictures of pieces? Have a 1970 to 1974 navajo squesh blossum but I can't a stamp marking on it. Bought it in durango,colo. at rhe durango trading post. was there any time they didn't stamp them. How can I find out?

I loved your wife's and dad's jewelry. My favorite mines are Bisbee, Kingman, and Royston. I think Sleeping Beauty stones are beautiful, but they look like plastic in many cases. I am not confident in identifying them, but I can see from your pieces they can look "too perfect."
