All peoples in Russia are called peoples:) tribes is just a historic term, ex. 'slavic tribes of the 10th century'.

Well technically we're all relatives so that doesn't matter much. And technically since "Russian" is a nationality and Siberia is part of the Russian nation the heading is correct. Siberia is a HUGE chunk of Russia's land mass. It's hardly a fringe territory, they're a sizable portion of the population, and Siberia's been part of "Russia" for longer than the US has been a country. Sorry, but cultural elitism bothers me. smartcar1, I enjoyed your video.

From a warrior perspective, dance and music of this type develop cardio endurance, coordination and balance. Individual Physicals skills necessary for combat. Therefore, I see no conflict in music, dancing and warfare regardless of ethnicity. Peace.

@Bruce Haig Interesting and entertaining to watch, thank you. However I see no valid comparison here to traditional drumming by Native Americans, the Inuit in particular. What seems to present here is perhaps an evolution in drumming, and dancing, one that is "tainted" by exposure of traditional indigenous peoples of the polar region to a southern European influence ie the Cossacks and/or Russian army.
@shirehorse91
@shirehorse91 7 лет назад
"Taint" probably isn't an accurate description, because there are no clear cut boundaries between any of these cultures or people. Elements of the dance has characteristics of drumming and dance that you'd find in Northern Canada. The swaying the drum back and forth and stepping side to side in particular.
@cruisedance979
@cruisedance979 3 года назад
Yes, very much tainted by Russian or European cultures and heritages. This is Russian drum dancing and there aren’t any similarities found Native American Powwow dancing like this. They are too Russianize and lack of traditional Native American traits. I don’t see common Native American trait among them. Their shoulder movement is hip hop dance movement, and they looks like brown grass hoppers with large drums and lack of colorful feathers. I am Northeast Asian-and I feel sad to write negative comments. My ancestors used to live Siberian region in ancient era.

@babyblack94 your scenario is not an ironic situation(but it's a notion for your ocean), that's a coincidental situation(a surprising coincidence or unexpected coincidence is not irony per se) An example of irony would be if the peoples in this video are completely opposed to modern electrical technology of the past couple hundred years but yet they would agree to being filmed for posting onto youtube. That's a coincidence with a conflict of 'consistency'. That's irony.

Considering the direction that various cultures took when migrating across the Bering Straights (40-100,000 years + B.C.E.) it is no wonder that there is such a connection between this and a lot of variations of Native American dance. Thank you so much for posting this.

@kardancer1 Siberia for the most part was sparsely populated but Russia did have other Native peoples there before the "Russians" came, Russia expanded from the Slavs who came from modern Poland, the Cossacks took over the land. Russia being a huge land mass was home to people like the Khazars (southern Russia and Caucasus), Yakuts, Sythians (iranian peoples), Altay, Ket and others, similar to American history except Russians claim that they were "always" there.
