6:50 She's referencing that trend in videos where people asked (a native English speaker, mind you) "What does Y-E-S spell?" They'd respond "Yes" but when asked what does E-Y-E-S spells they'd forget (for some reason) that it's a real word! Definitely look it up if you haven't! I saw someone on Twitter traslated it on JP Twitter, so maybe she saw that! Super neat. Edit: Here's the video! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P4ramoioWnw.html
Yeah, usually you have to repeat it, then after repeating it a few times, you are only thinking of the word yes and when spelling out eyes, you only recognise the yes as the main word Or thats what i think happens
@@AnomalousMats I don't know about that, when I was a lid learning English I went uhmmm a lot... and what is x in english? To my parents dismay. They don't speak much English at all.
@@livedandletdie Right? I don't speak a lick of Japanese but I always used "como se dice" a lot to learn how to say something in Spanish, since I worked with quite a few people who only knew Spanish. That helped A LOT with learning how to say something I didn't already know.
poor girl, she exhausted all of her english vocabulary in less than 10 minutes, but that was very worth to see live! now maybe she would have kept going if she had a barrel stati- barrel stasibi- stabaya- how do you say that again?
I believe Matsuri just started a new religion. This is also very impressive. I always got the impression that english is very difficult for her. Good job Matsuri!
At least she's trying her best. It's really sad though, how a lot of people (it's us weebs that I'm referring to) interact with Japanese culture so much, and Japan also follows along on many trends of western civilization, yet very often, we can't speak each other's languages. We can barely communicate. There's so much interaction going on between Japan and western fans, yet 90% of us can't speak Japanese, and out of every generation of Hololive there's about one member that can speak English... Um... "Reliably".
@@dsperfkdsp9962 Aah, so it's only a thing amongst boomers! I can see how it might be frowned upon to speak English if it's only done so by the eldest. This one did take me by surprise, though. It does however give some insight to Japan that I had never thought of. It is weird, however. Because I know that students in Japan learn at least basic English.
I have been feeling down and tired lately, but this special moment has cheered me up. Every second of Matsuri speaking English gradually made me smile more. Thank you dude.
(copied and pasted from Matsuri's original stream) Honestly the whole English part was wholesome. Mostly Matsuri apologizing (which was very cute) and saying other short words. Engaging with the English audience was a good thing to do because it lets us join in and have fun all together.
