I read about their medicinal power so as I walk from my apartment I "borrow" a red flower or 2 or 10 from the vines that adorn the walkways that I pass to get to town. I am retired in Lithuania so I view most of Luli's videos.
I love nasturtium ,. I have given it to e family members to help with abcess teeth and just a bad toothache. Usually didn't need any more than 2 capsules. Just read about using the leaves in cooking. Grind the leaves and use them as pepper as well.
Watching from Australia. New sub to your channel now. 😀🖐🇦🇺❤️ I just made a small jar of nasturtium flower tincture. Now I've watched this, I'll process the leaves as well. Recently made Nettle tincture & a parsley tincture & growing elderberries to do the same. Love doing this stuff! Cheers!
Fellow Aussie girl here, how did you go with making the tincture? I'm interested in making it myself if I can grow some next season. and I havent heard of parsley tincture, what do you use that for?
@catey62 my tinctures turned out well. I'm going to try sell at a local market. Parsley is good for so many things. Another powerhouse of benefits, too many to list here. Good luck making yours. It's really not at all difficult & it's an enjoyable process I find. Love to see other Aussies interested in same things. Gives me hope. ❤️😊⚘️
I have those scissors too. They're fabulous. You can also get a little comb that goes with it to scrape out all your cuttings so as not to waste any. Yes, great for parsley & all herbs too.
I always plant nasturtiums with my tomato plants because I believe that it keeps aphids away. And it makes the greenhouse look prettier. Nice to know that I can get more use out of them. I am especially interested in using the seeds as pepper substitute, do they get dried in a dehydrator or just air dried?
@@lulishomestead6767 sure isn’t. I used to work as a Physician liaison before the lockdown in March. With so many stipulations now, I would never go back to medical industry. I Enjoy your videos! Thank You! 🤗
damn didn't know until this. don't know why our East Europeans never mentioned this after they introduced this in our villages in the pacific islands, Papua New GUinea. Thanks will try some
Wonderful information! I grew several different kinds of nasturtium last year in my garden, but I didn’t use any of it because I didn’t really know what to do with them other than look at the pretty flowers 😂 Would any type of nasturtium work or there’s a specific kind? Thank You! 🤗🙏🤗
Hi! I dont have a dehydrator. Can I dry the nasturtiums in the oven? Also, would you use Spyritus alcohol for this or any other tincture that you make?
Yes, you can dry in the oven. The lowest setting with the door open a little, because you don't want to cook them. I am not familiar with Spyritus alcohol.
@@lulishomestead6767 hi again Luli. Spyritus is a polish vodka that us poles use to make homemade liquors and other things. It is 96% alcohol, 192 proof. So very strong!🙂
I air dry bushels of herbals everyday in a storage shed, I just fluff them or turn them throughout day. Hot days it's about three days. Rainy days it's more five to six. I'm guessing fall it may take longer
Helo Luli! So thankful for you coming into my life . Can you please help me , I’m suffering from bad eczema been to dermatologist and nothing really seems to help much and it’s expensive! Is there a eczema garden remedy you can provide to help me please ❤ I have a herb garden 🪴
I am very sorry to hear of your skin struggles. I like to use stinging nettle for such issues, not just as drinking tea, but also adding to daily bath.
@@cigileyAtTR can you tell me how to make this salve ? With what ? Do dandelions need to be in bloom or just root and leaves ? My 40 yr old has such severe eczema at the s all of his back and down its welted. Family practice and dermatology provide rx creams that keep things at bay but never resolve. If it inflames he has open wounds etc. I recent,y bought a cream that is 40% zinc oxide and am hoping for the best but if anyone can share this….I’d make it !
