HOWEVER as our professor took us chapter by chapter through this amazing work, and explained its deep structure and many references to the Temple and to Old Testament prophetic utterance, eg Ezekiel, I SUDDENLY REALISED!!! OMG!!” This is taken from EYE WITNESS ACCOUNTS OF THE ERUPTION OF VESUVIUS!!! 🌋 🌋 🌋 It could either be based on Pliny the Younger’s famous written account or on other people’s verbal testimony. St John was on Patmos, not so very far away from the Bay of Naples, and Book of Revelations was written (we were told) in AD 96, a mere 17 years after the eruption in AD 79, so, time-wise and place-wise, it’s very possible. Firstly the Christians don't care if the temple is destroyed or not. We Christians believe our body is the temple of God and not a building. We don't believe that the temple in Jerusalem is the temple of God. The day Jesus rose from the dead, a new covenant is established by God. In the new covenant God lives in each Christian because our body is the temple of God. We believe the presence of God left the temple of God after the death of Jesus Christ because Jesus lives in each one who makes him their personal Lord and saviour. The minute Jesus rose from the dead the veil through which the high priest enters once every year on the day of atonement tore. God no longer lives in a building. Jesus lives in every one who make him their Lord and saviour.
