My ex also had this issue and we cycled through soo many different products and lines. Natural, plant based, just everything. What did end up working is the As I Am Dry and Itchy scalp line. We’d only oil his scalp twice a month after washing. His scalp and hair flourished like crazy. I highly recommend
Yes, that's seborrheic dermatitis and you can pick the flakes and your hair comes with it 😭 I have seborrheic dermatitis, and it has been a journey. I have tried so many different shampoos and conditioners. I will say aloe vera gel (the plant) has been the most helpful. My hair grew fast and it was full. My scalp was the healthiest it has ever been. I stopped because it can be time-consuming, but I would recommend it. Certain oils will cause a flare-up; the overproduction of oils will do that. Stress and foods like dairy can cause flare-ups. You got this beautiful 😍 I understand the frustration. Our hair is such a prominent part of us and our identity. Your hair is beautiful and looks extremely healthy 😍 ✨️ I would recommend aloe vera plants. You will not regret it!
@Jenise Adriana yes, try it! So I section my hair up (maybe 3 sections on each side) and then spray each section with water. For the aloe vera plant, you can just cut it into medium-sized sections. Then take each piece you cut and cut those in half. You will see the clear aloe vera gel on each section you cut. So this part is your preference. I usually take each piece and rub it on the sections of my damp-to-wet hair until it's saturated in the gel, and focus on the scalp as well (it feels so good). Others will take a spoon and scoop the aloe vera gel from each piece and put it into a bowl. You can use your hands and squish up the gel in the bowl and apply that directly on your head. Or use a blender to blend the gel pieces that you placed in a bowl and after blending it, they usually would strain it. I use the first method, as it's quicker and in my opinion easier. Some people don't like it that way because they say it leaves chunks of the gel behind in their hair (that's why they choose to blend it) but I think it may depend on the texture of your hair and how saturated it is. I have never had chunks and I think it's because I use water first and then apply the gel. I have sensitive skin, and it did irritate my neck a little. I just make sure to have a towel around it or once I covered it, it was fine. Leave the gel in for at least an hour. I've left it in for hours before and even overnight. Wash with shampoo and conditioner, some people just co-wash but I preferred both shampooing and conditioning. I did this every other wash day (wash day was every Sunday) in the beginning, but I noticed my scalp was healing. I had fewer flare-ups and those scaly scabs, so I spread the treatment from biweekly to once a month. I hope this helps love 🙏🏽
I’ve had SD since 8th grade and I’m in my 30s now. I have to wash my hair every week .. 2 max. I go to dermatologist and get rx shampoo. Ketaconozale (same active ingredient as nizoral just stronger strength ) for maintenance and clobetasol (steroid) when I have a major flare up when it’s really flaky and sore. I also flare up on my hair line so I can’t use any edge controls to slick my edges sadly lol I use ketaconazole cream on my hairline.. major tips- don’t oil your scalp the oil triggers the yeast .. & if u get braids u can’t use gels or the edge control on your parts or your scalp will flare up quickly .. at least mine does. Nothing on scalp not even itch products unless you’re ab to wash.. not even tea tree oil. Years ago I used to put ACV on my scalp w applicator bottle let it sit 15 mins then use RX shampoo and that worked but then I read the ACV might promote more yeast and got scared lol but other than that let ur scalp breathe.. and wash often ! I also noticed that heat makes the flakes come back faster like if I blow dry in high heat when it’s focused heavily on roots
I have tried Nizoral and Happy Cappy. Those are my favorite. What helps me keep my dermatitis in check is drinking plenty of water and eating a gluten free diet. Anything that contains wheat will make it flare up with my skin.
8:15 I get EXACTLY what you mean about hair being so important to you, hair isn’t my everything… but hair is my everything lol. It’s kinda like a “iykyk” kind of thing. I hope you find products that help you, the set came out amazing 💕
I think the best natural hair care line out is Giovanni. They have amazing products that don't contain the ingredients you're trying to avoid and an expansive line of products for every hair type. Now honestly, I don't get fixated on ingredients too much anymore because there are soooo many chemicals that our body absorbs (and releases) everyday that can cause cancer. But hopefully, you find something that works for you, soon!
It seems like a lot of their products have alcohol which is supposedly a no no when you have SD. I’ve spent so much time trying to research alcohol free, sulfate free, paraben free products and it’s crazy how I can hardly find anything without all 3.
@@jeniseadriana That's crazy! The only other brand I can think of that's free of all those is Briogeo. Only thing you may not like about them is their price tag.
It so relaxing watching a black woman do her natural hair. It's like magic. At first I thought "This woman look so mean all the time" but now it seems like your "focused" look. You are gorgeous though. Especially when you're this happy.
I was first diagnosed with Seborrheic Dermatitis as a teen, I had to wash my hair daily with a prescribed shampoo to get rid of the flare up, and I couldn't use any products during that 2 weeks, now as an adult sulfur 8 hair grease 2x a month does the job also castor oil helps too, every now and then I will use a medicated shampoo, then a moisturizing shampoo afterwards
The Carol’s Daughter Wash Day Delight Collection blew my mind. I wasn’t a fan of their products but that line is amazing! It also last awhile to get you through multiple washes b/c you don’t have to use a lot. It has become one of my top 2 at home shampoo and conditioners to use.
I've had psoriasis for years now and I struggled as my hair is really fine too. However, I have not had a flare up in over two years. I use Nizoral [Shampoo & Deep Moisturizing Conditioner], Shea Moisture [Restore & Repair] etc., As I Am lines, and Head & Shoulders mostly, which has a few different lines also, including scalp treatments. These products have really helped me to keep a healthy scalp and strong hair. I Hope This Helps. You have Gorgeous Hair Sis 👍.
@@jeniseadriana Yes, but even that is gone. Scalp massages and oil prior to wash day helped. I use organic rosehip seed oil, jojoba oil, castor oil [black or regular], extra virgin olive oil too. I like to mix an essential oil like rosemary, lavender, or peppermint with any of those for scalp massage. Sometimes I mix them all 😄. They all helped with regrowth in my experience.
Your hair is beautiful! I have seborhic dermatitis as well and flaring. The dermatologist products do help but flares sometimes happen. My hair is everything so I do understand. It will get better 🤍
Very cute 😍! I prefer using the old school, foam sponge rollers. Very easy to use & they are also comfortable to sleep in, so your style can last longer without having to use hairspray! 😉
Ummm. I remember those. They are not really good for your hair they dry out all moisture. Ever notice when you take them your hair is spongee and course.? I don't miss those rollers at all.🤣
@@jeniseadriana I bought the hair masque earlier. If you go on the web you can call them directly. I talk to them today because I need y’all to restock. Naw I had questions because I’m relaxed. It’s safe on chemically treated hair. I’m a Olaplex girl, I believe would also be safe for you to use.
Mielle really had my scalp super inflamed around the hairline. I couldn’t understand why, but now I see it has alcohol. “As I Am” has a good dry scalp line that has made my hairline grown in super thick.
Girl do it after u wash ur hair and do a wet set. It'll last a whole week n more. I do it for the week with either rods or rollers n wrap my hair at night. You can't tell me nothing. I'd be feeling myself alllll week long lol
I’m struggling with scaly scalp too. I’m changing my diet and plan to try to stress less. Diet apparently affects everything!! Sugar and white carbs all the things we love is terrible for some of us. Hope your find an answer.
I was just going to suggest the same thing. I suffered for years and I started a lower sugar diet and it cleared up. Now I haven’t had a flare up in over 3 years.
I really appreciate this! It’s important to be and get educated. I’ve suffered from the heavy flaking for a few years and NOW I know the name of the condition 🙏🏽🫶🏽thank you!
Hmm, I'm glad you talked about this because now I think this is what may be going on with my scalp lol. I thought it was just my body, hair, and hormones adjusting after having my daughter last year. My flakes are mostly at my hairline, but I definitely experienced postpartum hair loss all along my hairline, so it's possible. Idk. I'll be looking out for more content on this. Thank you! And this came out so bomb!!
Don't know if you're still dealing with the issue. Hope this helps. I had SB very badly for over 20 yrs and am happy to say that I no longer do. I tried the medicated shampoos both prescription and otc, steroid prescription liquid, AC rinses on and on. Various docs said it's incurable. Not so. What finally worked to cure it for me is figuring our exactly what the triggers were. Once I learned it's basically an allergic reaction I switched up all my hair products and techniques to get rid of the allergin. Something(s) I was using was the problem and I didn't know exactly what so I changed everything and tried adding thinks back or not depending on the reaction. I no longer use anything with coconut oil, nothing from that macadamia line, no edge booster or a couple of other gels/edge control, no sitting under a hot dryer forever with the hot air drying out my scalp, and no putting conditioner on my scalp. I also now oil my scalp every few days with organic jojoba or black castor oil and I have no more SD issues. Just try and find out what the ingredients are that are triggering for u. Re: alcohol. Not all alcohols are drying. Some are fatty alcohols and help moisturerize the hair. Keep doing your research if it's still happening and good luck!
you have such a beautiful side profile ! I literally have the same issue as you and think I have the same but can't find anything to help. my hair is super fine baby soft can't hold a curl ! I came looking for a video to show me how to use rollers and came across your video ! LOVE your outcome nervous for mine 😂😂
I use Nizoral all the time now. Olaplex has been a game changer as well. The only natural hair products I use now is The Doux and hair grease when my hair is braided. Mind you, I scrapped everything else because, it didn’t work. I make my own Ayurvedic oils and sprays.
Hmmm, i'll have to look up The Doux. I'm not consistent with Nizoral unfortunately but my condition does seem to be getting better. I'll be making an update video soon. I read through Olaplex ingredients and it seems to have some of the ingredients that we shouldn't be using.
I am also on this journey, i figured out i had this last summer. It can also be in your eyebrows & eyelids, nose area, tongue. Is how i knew it was much more than dandruff.
It’s the shine, body and bounce for me. Your hair looks so healthy. Is there a video on what you use to achieve shine? Is it the shampoo and conditioner?
Have you tried tea tree oil? Like a few drops in your normal shampoo. I’m not 1000% sure about dermatitis but it helps with a lot of different skin problems. You did a great job with the roller set too ❤ at my school we use those and they have these little plastic picks that go down into the holes to stop them from unrolling
Amazing!!!!!!!!! I am definitely going to try it. Your hair came out perfectly, I always look forward to your videos. 🤩💯💫💫💫 Please if possible try going to see a hair / scalp Doctor, honestly it was the best thing I did ( UK ) my hair density and health has been great 👍🏼 it did take time because my hair was growing back in. I was tired of playing a guessing game of products. However 100% all natural products are not bad.... Check for allergies too in food...👍🏼 Looking forward to next video Sis! 🎀👩🏽
Check out ketoconozale 2% its a prescription shampoo a bit stronger than OTC Nizoral. ALso Beas Bayou makes a great scalp solution for seb derm. I havent had one flake since using it
I struggle too, you’re not alone. I WFH too, so I did a big chop this summer because I was so frustrated (dramatic, I know lol). Only thing I’ve found that works is TGIN. Im here for product suggestions too 👀!
Omgosh I am too and I feel the exact same way my hair is an art and I express myself through it.. my forehead is discolored from this condition I’m sooo freaking over it and I do have hair loss across my hairline as well.. I did come across someone else saying they tried Candida Freedom probiotic soap with the lemon scent for the scalp and it worked within a week they seen a difference.. whatever you do don’t use apple cider vinegar I just ordered me a bar too see if it works
Hi! So I watch your videos very often, and I love how you do your hair. I want to achieve a similar style but having a hard time conveying to my stylistist what I want. How would you describe this cut to a stylist? Thank you.
I realized that my SD was related to gut health like many skin conditions are , cutting diary and gluten really helped controlling it more than any miracle products, I’m recently using the No tears baby shampoo and I find it very gentle on my scalp ❤
In Summer of 2021, I ended up having a horrific reaction to the medication ‘Humira’ and it caused me to develop psoriasis, which in turn gave me dermatitis of the scalp and I eventually started just losing my hair in chunks and I ended up with alopecia temporarily. I know how discouraging and uncomfortable the problem can be. I’m sending you love on this journey of yours and I hope you’re able to find products that help 🙏🏾
@@jeniseadriana Honestly, most of my treatment was done through prescribed medications for psoriasis, such as cyclosporine and I used a prescribed solution called clobetasol, which helped a lot with inflammation and itching. But once I cut my hair, my main focus was keeping my scalp clean and doing whatever to prevent scalp irritation. I used shampoos that didn’t contain sulfur or any other harsh chemicals (especially since I didn’t want to further trigger a reaction) and l used natural oils like tea tree oil and coconut oil to help and prevent my scalp from being dry. I know this Journey definitely isn’t a one size fits all situation, but hopefully you were able to gain a bit of insight to help you along yours 🫶🏾
Can u please do videos on curling iron and flat iron techniques? Because I tried and can’t seem to get good results I want. My hair always look too dry and I tried a lot of products with no such luck. Thanks
i don't think my flat iron videos would be the best for you. I have the opposite problem, my hair gets too greasy. so i cant really use a ton of products for a silk press.
I have this! And I can’t even let my braids stay in long because of it 😩. I’ve been to the dermatologist, I’m allergic to aloe, I’ve friend the shampoos , rea tree oil doesn’t work idk what else to do
I have SD and I’ve found that certain foods cause it to flare up. So I try and eat things with yeast in moderation, and eat grass fed meats and dairy. I really don’t consume much dairy fr outside of butter & cheese or ice cream very sparingly. That has helped a lot along with hot oil treatments every wash which has helped my edges grow back so much. And nothing with coconut oil at all ..that just turns into a mess. I hope you find somethings that help 🙏🏾🤍
I have this too this condition can be a pain but its cool to find out what works for us. my bf ending up making a shampoo with a lot of herbs and even turmeric. turns out great every time and I don't itch as much or as bad.
If you have a perm, it’s definitely NOT good for it. I’ve been diagnosed since a kid and see a HUGE difference when I went natural. I also wash my hair more often.
Hi love your vids, Try Neutrogena T-Sal shampoo it's a clear shampoo...it helped me get rid of my scalp issues and buildups....1 bottle cleared my issue, I hope this helps💆🏽♀️👍🏽Great vid!!🌹: Also limiting using lots of products also helped me and only using the T-Sal Shampoo on my scalp and keeping all other product off the Scalp, only applying my products mid-shaft from the ears down to the ends only💆🏽♀️⭐
@@jeniseadriana Hi, I don't use conditioner, after washing my hair I go straight to a deep conditioner like Kenra (restorative reconstructor) or Living proof (weightless mask) I would interchange between these masks , followed by living proof ( perfecting spray) it's a leave-in I would spray mid-shaft to ends... I really think the shampoo was the key factor and keeping my scalp free of loads of products was wat helped me a lot, Hope this help...💃🏽👍🏽
Uhhh I didn’t really do a big chop, I cut my hair in 2016 just for a cute short cut and after that I would always let it grow out and cut it again. So that’s hard to answer because I haven’t been intentionally trying to grow my hair since my first cut.
God bless You need to get Betamethasone Dipropionate Ointment. 0.05%. Net wt. 45gram You go to a dermatologist to get it. My hair was long and broke off to my ear. My hair is about your length now. Your hair turned out pretty. Be blessed
