Buy your self a big bucket of patience to go with it Mike 😃Don't try on a small model as it's a lot more difficult to do. 1/32nd scale Starfighter is a good one. Video to come
I had to jump forward a bit because I almost fell asleep. Not boring. Relaxing. This was really good because it gives a lot of confidence and frames expectation of the effort. Heroic, but not impossible at all. Cheers!
Next on the 6 o'clock news crazy man foils his house and the neighbors cat😂😂😂😂 That Spitfire looks amazing, this build is saved for future reference should I go nuts lol
Lovely work mate. As you know I work in Braille scale and I find it fascinating the " Same Same but Different " approaches we take to achieve similar results. I will generally mask a canopy as if I were going to paint it, apply glue to the foil then burnish the foil to the canopy over the mask, pretty much the same as you do without the mask. I apply the mask to give myself an extra bit of insurance against blade slip while cutting the frame outlines ( Idiot proofing really 😜) ... the waste foil then comes off in one piece with the tape requiring very little clean up. Aftermarket masks would take a lot of the masking effort out of the equation. No right or wrong argument here, just different paths to the same destination. The masking method might be helpful to modellers who are'nt confident, or still building, their blade skills. Anyway the Spitfire is getting ever closer to completion and looking better with every video.👍 🍻😀
That's a great idea Dean.I know I would end up trapping bits of mask under the foil where the cut lines didn't match up. I'm quite confident with a blade but it would deffo help with glue residue. I want the airframe done now so I can move on the the engine, a model in its own right.
Love the preciseness of your work Richard. You've probably said in previous videos but what type of foil and glue are you using? And what type of solvent are you using to get the glue off of the clear area of the canopy? Your spit is absolutely stunning. You've really set the bar very high for all modelers. Have you had an opportunity to check out Rojas Baxan and his metal work? Reminds me of what you are doing. Cheers! Rhys
By the way, I do like the closeup shots. Really improves being able to appreciate your technique . The music is a nice touch. Minimalist and low key. Keep it up!
