Thank you for what you do Alex. I really enjoy the nature interludes. I live in southern California and have never been to England. I am discovering new places on our planet through your videos. My favorite parts are when you read from your nature journal. You paint a picture with your words! Oh, and of course watching you paint is a true gift. Thank you again.

That is great feedback thank you so much for commenting 😊 I love to see videos from other parts of the world too 😁 Will definitely include more journal readings, it is a nice way to get my writing included as well as the art. I only held off out of self conscious nervousness about my reading voice 😂😂 For me, nature journaling is very much about both but writing and drawing but so far the arty side has been over-represented.

Thank you so much, Alex. I loved this video. I also like to occasionally have RU-vid on in the background so more talking is most welcome. I enjoyed your nature notes and the interludes, although I found them a little short, so I had only just settled into them before they were gone. Maybe another 30 seconds? I like the music but I agree with another commenter that it's sometimes too loud as you have such a gentle voice. I find it so relaxing, informative, and helpful to watch you paint/create journal pages and that continues to be my favourite thing, but it's all lovely. I'm excited to see the finishing touches to this journal, and to what you create next year!

I hear you on the interlude length, I'll work on that 😊 I'll also work with the audio balance next time, thanks so much for taking the time to leave feedback 🙏💚

Thank you Alex enjoyed this video, the interludes are informative and the music gentle. Now to confess, I had such great plans at the beginning of the year for a journal but picked it up the other day and wrote ,”March” but unlike you I have no notes only photos to remind me, I have decided to use it for events like holidays and days out in nature rather than a daily note book of what I see, maybe I will stand a better chance of keeping up to date. I am also spending too much time dilly dallying on what form it should take and what medium to do the journal in, but I do like to see your pen and watercolour and it seems a quick way to complete the page. Thankyou for all the videos you make that are most welcome.

Thank you! That sounds sensible, it's a habit you gradually build up. Another thing I recommend is to have a rough, scribble journal you can take out with you. Limit yourself to just a pencil or a pen and no colour or other arty distractions! That will help you keep a record and keep you inspired for content for your other, less regular but more "aesthetically pleasing" journal 😊 Good luck!

Loved the video. Personally I thought the interludes would be better with just the sound from the scene rather than any other music as well. Listening to your nature notes fits in well with the format..

Thank you. Tough call on the music, I'm trying a range of things. Personally I enjoy setting video clips to music in a creative way so can't promise to entirely eradicate it but want to find ways to use the native sounds more (though it's not always possible as I usually film from a public bird hide and people often are talking in there 🙄😅)

I loved hearing you read your field notes -- more please! The music is OK but a bit loud for my taste (compared to the volume of you talking). I like the interludes!

Are hazelnuts wild in your area? We only have them in orchards. Oregon is the hazelnut capital of the US. The video interludes are wonderful, the music calming. I think the berry painting is good as is, hedgerows should be chaotic and busy.

Yes, we have wild hazel everywhere. Usually the squirrels eat all the nuts before they fully ripen but you can get lucky with searching 😊

Lovely video Alex. I like to watch RU-vid while doing the dishes and cooking dinner too. Do you use a microphone when you record the voice over? I tend to find it hard to hear you without having my earphones plugged in, it just seems a bit muffled otherwise. That may just be me and my phone though. I love your interludes and readings. This had all the elements I love in your videos. Thanks for sharing Alex 😊

Thanks so much, Sarah. Yes I have a mic mod on my GoPro but there's various other mic set ups I can try and experiment with. I can also adjust levels more in my editing software. It sounds fine through the noise cancelling headphones I work with, but need to check other devices 🙂

I love your content but the piano music is very distracting and doesn't sound good if you watch videos at 1.5 speed 🙋‍♀️. Natasha Newton (here on yt) uses a mediative drone soundrack when she's painting (not sure how else to describe it), but it is buttery on the ears and makes for a relaxing watching experience. I love everything else about your videos tho.

Thank you for the feedback, I never even thought of what might happen with different watch speeds 🤦‍♂️ Far too scared to watch myself faster or slower 😂😂 I'll look up that RU-vidr and see what kind of music it is. Thank you 😊
