I was going to post this same thing. We, Portland, just had the Rose Parade as well.

The New York Botanical Garden, Bronx, NY.

Some cultivars may still be blooming, but likely not as showy as this first flush in June. Hot, humid weather, late season diseases, aphids, etc., all can do a number on the roses (though this is a botanical garden, so they'll have gardeners and volunteers to help mitigate these common issues). Not to worry, something else will be in bloom. Dahlias are pretty showy, too, and may be coming into their best around that time (mid August). NYBG has them in their Perennial Garden. If you make it out to Long Island, the Planting Fields Arboretum also has a really nice dahlia garden (and a rose garden, and a camelia house, and a greenhouse with orchids, succulents/cacti, and exhibits that change with the seasons). It was a private estate, back in the Great Gatsby era, but is now open to the public. Of course, you could always go to Jones Beach instead.😉 (Can't really do both in the same day, especially if you're staying in the city. Too much traffic getting from point A to point B. Doesn't look too far on a map, but don't let that fool you, depending on time of day.)
