Stunning views of the Enchantment Mountains (amazing Mount Stewart view), a chance of seeing Mount Rainier and Mount Adams, prolific wild flowers and plentiful water along the way. If you are not feeling the peak I would still go a little past the pass. Just another .25 mile ~200-300 ft up and you get amazing Stewart views! Lots of water sources but the trees don't provide much cover so whatever the temp is count on +15 for sun. The first 5 miles are pretty much the same view so it isn't too hard but a bit of a slog. This trail gets a lot of sun on the way up and wind on the peak so be prepared.
Stats: 13.3 miles, 4100 ft elevation gain/loss, 6.25 hours moving, 7.25 hours total (quick lunch/snack at the pass and the peak due to the wind). We are moderate paced hiker who hike weekly.

Road/Parking: Road is fine for any car. There is 4 miles (~10 min drive in an SUV) of dirt road with some potholes but it stays decently wide so you can avoid most of them. Parking had room for a dozen cars or so with some overflow on the road. There is a pit toilet. There are two $5 fee boxes if you don't have a Forest Pass or America the Beautiful. Permits are self issue. The box was empty but we saw others with them so they must have just run out. Emergency cell service at the TH, some AT&T and T-Mobile at the peak.
