I don't read music, so I either need tabs to learn a song, or I watch a video of someone playing a song, and slow the speed down and study their finger movements…it's a pretty slow process, but it's working 😊 You are obviously a very talented musician. I'm not a musician, just a hobbyist😊. I only learned to play the piano as a child. I began to learn other instruments recently, already in adulthood, in my free time. I started trying to play at NAF about 4 years ago, probably. But I didn’t have good instruments then; I made flutes myself from scrap materials. Then I realized that it would be better to play a good instrument right away, then learning goes much faster. I also play other flutes (svirel (pipe), ocarina), balalaika and gusli (the name of this Slavic instrument is not translated into other languages, it is sometimes also called the Russian harp). Also unprofessional, as an amateur, but I continue to learn. I don't usually play notes either. I know them, but it’s easier for me to select melodies by ear and play from memory. And Wayra does this too, he plays without notes, but at the same time he plays beautifully! So you too will succeed in time! Thank you very much again for your interest in my channel!🙏

But not in learning pieces on the flutes, but more in other cases. For example, when I want to come up with a second part for a duet, I write down the parts with notes in some editor to hear how it will sound and so as not to forget this part. Or to make arrangements. But I don’t use sheet music to play the flute, gusli, or balalaika. I think that it would be more difficult for me personally to play the flute by notes than by ear, since I would have to look at the notes, and then figure out what fingering on the flute to play this note.🤣 I can definitely say that to study at NAF it is not necessary to be able to read music from notes. My son, for example, from the age of 8 studied in a children's folklore ensemble, where all children were taught to play flutes and balalaikas simply by ear, without reading music. And he still doesn’t know how to read music from notes, but at the same time he selects everything by ear and plays from memory and even better than me! Wayra also can't read music.
