Corina, Corina by the Navajo Sundowners. Volume 8. Harold Mariano started the Navajo Sundowners while attending The Intermountain Indian School, a Native American boarding school in Brigham City, Utah in the early 1970s.
Navajo Sundowners are legendary here on the Rosebud Rez in SD. everyone knows thier music especially this one, they always were good to listen to wish i knew more about them.
Thank you for some names of Navajo Bands, just recently read an artical about these bands and youtube searched a few Wow!! I love this old time feel these bands have,i am an instant fan.
Borderline! I found their cassette case under the bench seat of my truck and I got excited thinking I had finally found that elusive tape but the case was empty and my heart was broke again.
I used to have this in a cassetteI used to sing this to my Sister Little Corrina EAGLE ELK. We used to go school in Utah in the 80's Intermountain Tribal School..
did you graduate with the class of 71. I did and I cherish every single memory of our old school, classmates and friends. My last name was Phillips before I got hitched.
you are Harold and Virginia's grandchild? Awesome. Did he sing to you? Harold and Virginia were classmates of mine. The Class of 1971. I live not too far from Brigham City and I watched the school dismantled over the years. It was so very sad. I took some bricks from the school building (it was allowed) and I have it in my sewing room with the picture of the school. I wish I could see Harold and Virginia again.
I love this group! I heard their song "The Young Brave (In the valley)" on KTNN 660 (Voice of the Navajo Nation), late one night, and have been searching for it with no luck. If you have it could you please post it, I'd be Eternally Eternally Grateful.
i meant to say that the navaho sundowners in the 80s were the best. I used to work for a bar in farmington new mexico and they would play there and the old school sundowners were the best. they played the greatest songs. I often wonder what happened to them. I remember Harold singing that song and that was great. Were is Harold nowadays?
