Essentially RCN Special Forces. As long as they do not get mission creep and end up doing stuff CANSOFCOM usually handles then it's fine. NTOG should be like old school US Navy UDT Frogmen and Marines.
@@hunto_ Their function can be expanded to give them a bit more capability like acting as an advanced landing force to secure beaches, at-sea hostage rescue (ex. piracy of ships), mining of enemy ports and vessels, and providing security aboard ships.
we also have JTF-2 and MTOG and PATHFINDERS and PJ's in canada are not special forces but trained like them but PJ's are not trained in firearms or combat but everything else
Yes and no. Canada has four special forces that are part of the Special Operations Forces Command; JTF2, CSOR, CJIRU and 427th Spec Ops Squadron. But the Canadian Forces also have special tactical groups that are part of the Navy or Army such as NTOG. They are technically special forces but not part of the SOF command.
You can join them if you wear glasses or contacts, they all wear ballistic glasses (to protect from dust, water etc) and the glasses can have a frame inserted which can hold the prescription lenses you need. (I follow the RCN on insta and somebody asked that question and they replied yes
I'm sure they would want MK18s. Canadian naval boarding parties used to use the MP5, but then switched to the C8 because of its greater ability to penetrate body armor. The problem is that doing any sort of procurement of new equipment in the Canadian military is extremely difficult because its not actually handled by DND but a different department instead. It's basically a bureaucratic mess under the supervision of non-military members who aren't concerned with operational capability. It's much easier to just order more of a rifle which is already in service with JTF2. Let me know if this helps explain the situation.
@@WhatDoomroidThinks Helped alot , so canada doesn't have something like USSOCOM that's run by SOF generals that seems like a really bad idea to have civilians making gear specs for guys that are shooters
You have to already be in the navy and have a trade. You apply and go through a selection process. (Heard the training was just as hard as S.E.A.L team training)
U know by chance y most of Canadian elite soldiers have white lips? Weird but sexy😍 I think i want to marry a Canadian! Also so nice ppl! Great mentality!
Theyre a specialized navy unit, a visit board search and seizure unit. In the US the coast guard, navy and marines have these units. Theyre very new though.. Sure maybe its mostly a tactic for recruiting but takes time to develop
Or Maritime Security Response Team (MSRT) coast guard who are deployable operations group.. So theyre specialized, capable and unique but not special forces
YT_PandaPlayz - If you think NTOG is a Canadian version of US Navy SEALs, you are seriously mistaken, If these are so good lets see them clean out the hoods and murders in Thunder Bay, NTOG would be to scared to get out of the boat.
Cory Taylor Well Im also in the navy bro, but I think most people still call it MTOG even though the official name is NTOG. If you look at the latest video about the unit on the RCN RU-vid page and the article they go by the name Naval Tactical Operations Group. I think it just hasn’t caught on yet. I still call them MTOG as well, I'm not saying your completely wrong either. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mKMoQ0F5fjI.html www.lookoutnewspaper.com/wanted-naval-tactical-operators/
so I'm a Canadian sea cadet join the navy next year and plan on going to MTOG but yeah why change the name if they just got the unit I don't understand that.
That would be very unprofessional of the SEALs to not wear them in the ice cold waters of Canada and it's very hard to even survive for more than a few minutes depedning on how far north you go. One of NTOGs jobs is to protect the Arctic Ocean.
