I just can't Thank you enough.....I am a Marathi speaking living in Maharashtra....without you or OSR... I don't think I ever would have this opportunity to listen such a gem from our own Kerala....Thank You Thank You.....
I'm from Uttar Pradesh and don't understand a word of Malayalam but this song made me sob for hours. This is one of the most powerful expressions of art I have ever seen in my life!!!
Thykkudam Bridge it's a real bridge in Kerala these band members are used to hangout there for usual fun times and get together in the evening and they named their band Thykkudam Bridge it's near to Cochin city kerala
The messege of the video is... It shows how traditional art forms / music/ culture are looked down up on / made fun of. It shows how people are forced to abandon their culture. Also shows how they are driven to that stage. The father represent the gurus/ those who made the art . The small boy represents the art/ culture. The school bullies represent the modern generation who burry the art/ culture alive. It's a strong message. I wish our youth would go back to their roots.
And ironically rock is one of the western art form that youth has fallen to thus abandoning their roots. 😊 not saying it’s bad but there should be a balance.
@@nomad4273 It is people's choice, they will listen what they like. Everybody has different choices and opinions, don't try to force your thinking on other people. Personally I like listening to cultural and folk songs but I will never say to any other person that you should listen to it because of culture and all that bullshit.
@@nomad4273 Not just balance. They should try to know it. Why they are, why so, the reasons etc. Ofcourse, many will say "it's our choice". But they should understand that all choices are not good. Those who questions everything should genuinely try to understand the reasons behind certain "myths/ superstitions/ pseudoscience" without any bias. Then they'll clearly understand it, if they are willing that is. • Why Carnatic music is different? In what all aspects? How it transforms / heals/ energises the subtle body. • Why there are certain rules in temples, why temples are built like that, especially South Indian. • Importance of Yoga, certain lifestyle And many other things and practices which were / are followed. People should try to understand it. Yes many understood it and it changed their biased views. It changed thir lives too.
Kerala as a fellow South Indian I am really proud. Also, appreciate your efforts to save all South Indian(Telugu, Tamil, Karnataka) classical music through some of the other videos. Thank you. 🙏
Varaha roopam song in Kantharam was inspired from this song. Both are equally mesmerising to hear, but the creator definitely deserves recognition n credits!
it always make me feel sad that we losing our culture and traditional arts day by day. now much more people want to be a playback singer in indian movies rather than to be a classical singer. most of the people want to be a choreographer in movie's dance rather than to trained in our cultural dances. because people don't respect cultural art Because in today's world money is more important than an Art. many people don't care about Art they care about only Money and it hurts me.
Don't try to force your thinking on others. You are nothing more than the bullies in this video. It is people's choice what they want to follow . Don't bring culture and bullshit into everything.
@@prabhakartelwane500 - I am confused. He forced his thoughts on you or you are forcing your opinion on him. The only thing I understand is he is at least trying to respect culture and echo with what Rick/Korbin mentioned.
no ,, we will never loose our culture ,, dont think it that way at all ,,, its jsut that its also incorporating from other elements and culture ,, the transformation does'nt mean that it will die ,, culture always exists it never dies ,, lets not be paranoiac ,, while money was even more imporatnat in the ancient and medieval times as well along with social status ,,
Kathakali encompasses a lot of art forms culminating into one grand spectacle. Athleticism, costumes, paint mixing and make up, choreography, poetry, singing and instrumental music. Its basically theater.
@@karthikatchutanna9650 no it's not theyyam it's Kathakali. You can even see it in the subtitle at the very beginning of the video. Also I am malayali and can confirm all these depicted are various Kathakali characters and not theyyam
Kadhakali Has 5 main Costume Sets (and 18 others for specific characters from hindu mythology but they are rare). Each costume is given to a specific type of character Costumes in Kathakali represents the three qualities of nature viz. satya (nobility), rajas (aggressiveness) and tamas (darkness) represented by pacha, kathi and thadi respectively. Pacha (Green) for noble male characters like kings and divine beings. Eg Lord Krishna or Rama Kathi (Knife) arrogant but Courageous eg Ravana, Dhuryodhana etc.. Thaadi (Beard) generally for lower classes like monkeys ,forest dwellers, crude people.. Red Beard baali, White Beard Hauman, Nandi etc..Black Beard Dhusasanna, hunters etc... Kari (Charcoal) for demonic characters like Keechaka , Minukku (Radiant) for Saints, women, like Narada, Rishis, Sita, Panchaali, etc..
Thanks to whoever suggested this song. Have been waiting so long to see the world appreciate the wonderful message behind the song. I'm a big fan of the song and the visuals. Thank you Korbin and Rick for understanding its meaning. Thank you Prince the subber baby. It can also be seen as a message against racism and how cruel people treat other people with color. Stupid family - you guys are awesome. No other youtube reaction channels understand the cultural references better than you do, these days. You guys have come a long way. Kudos!
Rick you have nailed it. That's exactly what they are depicting, the death of an art form that needs to stay and not be eradicated. And korbin no lol that's not shiva. Haha. The confidence with which you say certain things completely out of nowhere boggles me. 😂🥰
Most of the locals failed to interpret the real meaning of this song and visualisation.. But you guys did.. Awesome! These ancient arts are at the edge of extinction.. on the very land where they were born. Sad NAVARASAM is 9 facial expressions /emotions we show in the art of acting. T Bridge have successfully showed all those 9 feelings in a single short story, in a powerful way.
Kerala has been one of the brewing pots for performing art forms.. and sadly, the atmosphere is changing because of other reasons.. although art is still alive there..
Buddy you don't have a right to comment on what's happening in Kerala if you don't live there. Please put your WhatsApp views & politics aside. It has become fashion to comment on South Indians states except for one just because we don't let HINDI parties rule our states.
Just a huge heartfelt thanks for reacting to this one! This one, as rightly said, was the most beautiful way of expressing concerns about this dying art. Thank you for getting the message.
Looks like you guys found "Thaikuddam Bridge" finally! I am one of the million non-malayali fans of Thaikuddam. It's great that you found this. Now move to "Avial". Probably the greatest rock band ever from India which was way ahead of its time! Love you guys!
Thank you.. I've been requesting for this every single day since fish rock ❤️ I get goosebumps everytime I listen to this and my heart aches everytime I see the video..
Woww, that was amazing.. In India we don't much explore stuff from other regions.. I am from Maharashtra and I have never watched this.. This is so sad.. Your channel is giving us opportunities to watch awesome stuff from other region of our own country ❤️
@@vickeygaming1660 In India or even we can consider whole south asia / Indian subcontinent (India , Srilanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan) The culture changes for every 200 kms.
No actually it showed that... When the Child died The Art form The culture died and not just died it disappeared from there.. Man very very deep meaning song this was you can relate it everywhere.. there are some left who still made the culture of their respective lands alive but as The Change arrives if you not adapt it it is gonna kill you anyway.. many more
Am seeing this version for the first time....ohhh..that was amazing... tragedic...it made me so sad...y i was so late ..even as a malayee..... Rick and korbin..only because of you guys I used to see your reactios...and I saw this video of thaikkudam bridge...... really greattt!!! thanks to you too
You are not the only one. If you check the comments on the original video you will see lots of people saying this song haunted them for days. I replayed it many times myself and kept noticing new things in the video.
Same here..actually I have watched it before and have got teary eyed, but today tears came out .. And I get amazed every time by the fact that a violin with the same strings can make you both smile and cry!
Something amazing happens at 04:20 What is really notable about the way the song really creates an impact is when you see Korbin stop headbanging and realize the depth of the story and hidden meaning of the song. This is true magic happening right in front of your eyes.
As a young boy who used to get bullied in school days, I can feel this song and gets tears every-time I hear it. I just wish humans do not bring up bullies. Bullies are made by their family and society.
this, right here.. THIS, is what i LOVE about your channel guys.. you guys pick and react to the GOOD STUFF, not just the mainstream crap like everyone else.. Rick NAILED IT in first viewing itself.. spot on man, you got a good eye for art and artistic meaning behind things.. the message of this song is incredibly relavent and very much needed right now in india.. my generation is COMPLETELY MISSING the sheer greatness of our ancestrous culture, art forms, way of living, science, yoga, ayurveda, spiritual explorations and realizations, the list goes on and on.. im not saying its "great" out of pride, or just because its MY culture, no.. im a sceptic by nature, i've explored and found many things from our ancestors teachings and practices, and USED them, and benifited from these practices.. thats why i calling my culture GREAT.. Most of my generation(including me) have got it completely backwards i.e my generation is ACTUALLY ASHAMED OF OUR SANATHAN DHARMA for the fear of looking orthodox or backward-minded or old fasioned, i dont know.. Hindus in particular are very SELF-DEPRECIATING in this time and age..
How would you know that korbin enjoy music?! *Suddenly flips his hair right and left and continues fixing it although he knew he will flip it again and doing chicken dance with his wings*
Dudes...they realised at the end that this song was nothing to headbang to. Love to see that eerie feeling set into them at the end. The other guy kinda understood but the ginger gave the best reactions.
Thank you guys for reacting to Malayalam trailers and songs anddoing reviews Alot of other reaction channels leave Malayalam industry and just concentrate on bollywood and other industries
The image at the very end was Sri Mahavishnu (Krishna)- Kathakali is believed to be a successor to the dance form Krishnanattam. And that was the act of salvation (ultimate goal of any artist)
May I suggest "Aigiri Nandini" by Thaikkudam Bridge from the movie Solo! It's a 'stotram' (an ode or a hymn) in praise of Goddess Durga which has been 'rockified' by Thaikkudam like it's nobody's business. You guys would love it! There is a lyrical video of it on YT.
It was Lord Krishna at the end. In kathakali Krishna is having a separate costume & he can be distinguished easily from the rest. Plus one more thing, according to Hindu mythology Vishnu(Krishna is his incarnation) is potrayed as "peethavastradari" meaning the one who wears yellow dress.
