Interesting. For a long time, most backers were not too sure if Navdy would actually deliver this product. Biggest question is how this will stand up in our local weather. Internal temperature can go in excess of 50 degrees.
Can someone explain to me why this is called Head-Up Display and not Head-Down Display? The device is just above the dashboard, unless I am a short driver I would need to look down at the glass to see the information. When I do that I am taking the eyes off the road. HUDs that reflect information off the windshield are true HUD because the information can appear in the driver's line of sight, these are not really HUDs. Even when I look "down" at the glass I see through the dashboard or the hood of the car (the video was shot from a low angle to give the false impression that information appears floating above the hood of the car). What's the point of it being transparent then? It is not blocking the view of the road. What would be the difference between that and mounting the phone on the dashboard?
Not bad. It's definitely more cool to get this than the normal GPS unit. Just 2 quick questions: 1. Does it stream music from your phone? 2. Can you connect 2 different phones to it?
Navdy Customers: As you may be aware, on October 26, 2017, Navdy, Inc. (“Navdy”) entered into an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors (“Assignment”) and, as a result, Navdy is unfortunately no longer conducting business. An Assignment is a state level insolvency proceeding undertaken in accordance with state law, in this case California. The Assignment entity is a California limited liability company known as “Navdy (assignment for the benefit of creditors), LLC” (“Assignee”). The Assignee is a special purpose entity established to take title to Navdy’s assets, liquidate those assets for the most money possible, compile claims, and distribute proceeds, if any, to creditors according to their priority established in the California Code. You should note that with the exception of the relationship created by the Assignment, Navdy and the Assignee have no corporate affiliations to each other. The Assignment process is funded by a limited budget that goes towards winding down Navdy’s business affairs, paying for certain services to keep Navdy’s units running properly, and running a sale process to find a buyer for Navdy’s assets. While this sale process is still ongoing, the limited budget cannot fully support the costs of Navdy’s recurring services indefinitely. Regrettably, the Assignment estate will not be able to continue to support current Navdy units much longer. What this means for you as a Navdy customer is that sometime within the next couple of weeks, your Navdy unit may stop functioning properly. Features like turn-by-turn navigation and voice recognition could fail and it is possible that this may cause the device to fail completely. The Assignee is continuing with its efforts to find a buyer for Navdy’s assets, and hopefully one who will continue to support current Navdy’s units, but loss of functionality of your Navdy unit is an unfortunate and very likely outcome given that there is likely not going to be an imminent sale to a buyer; the Assignment estate has limited funds; and there are no sources of immediate funds available to the Assignee to enable the Assignee to continue to pay critical vendors.
+Stephen Chan display at night is very visible and brightness can be adjusted. Phone ringing in the midst of navigation does not affect anything. The number will just pop up on the right of the screen.
I saw one guy's review that he was ditching his and selling it because he was sick of how it constantly moves around on the dash making it hard to look at the display. Anyone else experience that?
Hey mate what does it look like from outside the car in terms of aesthetics, ive heard it look bulky but i guess u can always take it off when you're not using it. Thanks
+Kye Binyon aesthetically, it looks absolutely fine from the outside and yes, you have the option of removing from the magnetic stand which is very easy.
Nice vid! Hi Jamie, I've heard the company is going under, does that mean the product can't be used anymore? Will the app be gone or neglected. Saw this product on carousell and was wondering if i should still get it. Thanks!
I will definitely AGAINST getting it, in fact, the company has gone under and it’s really unfortunate. It was a great product and mine is still sitting on my dashboard....
+Tina White mine comes out from the car speakers and this is a feature you can configure, map runs off Google Maps so it's definitely free in that sense with live traffic etc
Ok I was wondering about the rattle because the guy made a video, and while he was not on the road when making the video you could see how easily it moved on his dash, maybe he just did not have it properly mounted. Next he made a video for a competitor to the Navdy so perhaps that was his motivation
Can't say for sure that's his motivation for his video but it has taken Navdy alot of time and effort to create a product like this and they are still constantly updating their apps. Definitely a well though out product if you ask me :)
Why no one Amazon you can't buy anymore and Best Buy pie won't be carrying no more so it must be a lot of problems with this device that people aren't saying
