I know and practice all the ideas that Joanne presents. However, I have a partner who is very, very negative. He has suffered so much trauma in this life. He is a very good man in so many ways! We're waiting months and months for his money to come from a land sale, but something keeps getting in the way. I have spent $12,000 supporting him and I need my money back. I'm a retired admin assistant living on Social Security in a trailer park. I have a small pension, thankfully, but I have cleaned out my savings and now have 3 credit cards, when I used to have only one. I have tried coaching my partner on the fact that thoughts create our reality, but he just doesn't buy it. He believes his life is cursed, that humans are evil, and that nothing will ever go right. What can one do in such a situation? I just can't abandon him.
A few things come to mind: Love him as he is AND love yourself as much and make choices that honor you. You can love him, but it doesn’t mean you need to be financial support for him, especially to your detriment. A healthy boundary is being called for and it is a choice that you get to make. It’s not abandoning him. Perhaps help him find other sources of support. He is benefiting from your generosity and love and there may be an aspect of him that doesn’t want that to end (ie the final payment for the land), energetically and likely unconsciously, he may not want it to be resolved. He may be concerned if you would still be with him if he wasn’t in trouble. Do you feel this relationship is healthy? Honoring yourself and knowing your worth for positive, healthy relationships may be something you are being called to reflect on. We will never know the path that another Soul has chosen. They are having the experiences they need in order to move them forward (as are you). Everyone is on their own path. They don’t need fixed. If they are not open or ready for the guidance you’d share, then just sending them love as they are will support them. You get to honor your life, your light and your vibration too.
