This video featuring Lee Ann Browning-McNee of the Reagan-Udall Foundation is part of NORD's educational series, "Rare Disease Drug Development: What Patients and Advocates Need to Know." In it, Lee Ann discusses what expanded access, sometimes called "compassionate use," means in the context of FDA approvals for rare, life-threatening diseases.
This series is designed to equip patient advocates and organizations with the understanding of how to play a driving role in drug development for their disease at every stage of the process. It was created by the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) in collaboration with the FDA and Critical Path Institute.
