Hi! I’m a 16 y/o clay artist, and my dream is to be a full-time self-employed artist. I opened my Etsy shop around 2 months ago, but I still have no sales. Your art isn’t my style at all, but I truly find your videos a great source of motivation and inspiration to keep working on my shop, even though I don’t get any sales, because I feel at home listening to you, and it motivates me to keep dreaming big. Thank you for being here❤
It’s so reassuring to see someone doing similar to me and not becoming an overnight success. It’s a constant thought that pops up - what if it never works?! How many years until I know? Then I have to reassure myself I’m still new, this is normal, etc. Keeping records and having a look at how far I’ve come in all different areas motivates me to keep going. I wouldn’t want to do anything else and am building so many skills!
I'm trying to become a full time artist too and I can completely relate, especially with social media, there's times when I see little to no growth and it is discouraging ❤ I hope we can both achieve our dreams
Hello Jen. I'm curious and would like to ask if you print the wrapping paper, envelope and thank you cards you use for packaging your products? Did you print this when you started or did you have a third party supplier do it for you? Thank you:)
I actually printed them all myself! I use vellum paper for my wrapping paper. The envelopes are just kraft envelopes and the thank you cards are printed on EPSON premium presentation paper! I print all the designs at home with my printer! All materials and supplies I use are linked in my storefront in the description if you're looking for the exact ones😊
I am so glad I found your channel. I really appreciate your honesty and willing to share. There’s not many people willing to share how they do things to help letters to be successful.
Hey Fructus- This is me right now... but at the beginning! I am just now returning to art after a long time but also using it in case my school doesnt work out due to chronic illness. Honestly my biggest question is how do you deal with people who may think you do NOTHING or JUST DOODLE all day? I feel like I get no respect. Admittedly I am much further behind on my journey than you but I am finding it really hard to try to persuade people that art is valid.
Personally, I try my best to ignore any negativity because I tend to me a positive and optimistic person. Any kind of negativity just exhausts and drains me of my energy. But sometimes certain comments get to me or there are just individuals you can't avoid or ignore. In these cases, I acknowledge that they are entitled to their opinion but that doesn't make them right. You know all the work you do and you know how passionate and hard working you are. So I just remind myself that I am doing something and that I am working towards something I love and care about. I also think surrounding yourself with individuals who believe in you is super helpful. Since I've begun this art career journey, I've said goodbye to a couple of relationships because they were not being supportive of me and made me feel terrible about my decisions even though I felt the happiest I have ever felt. At the end of the day, I just try to stay focused on my work and what makes me happy. I know its easier said than done but I think over time, it should become easier to handle. I wish you all the best with you art, your studies and you illness! Sending you lots of hugs and warmth! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
hi! i found your channel a few days ago, and i just wanted to say that i feel like you're the "3 years ahead" version of me from your videos i've watched so far! i'm studying computer science and art in uni and also have a small business, and also feel like my career path/decisions might end up looking similar to yours, so your videos have been super insightful! you even have the monitor i've been eyeing for the longest time AHAHA - i wish you the best with your shop and art journey !!!
Hi, Jen! It's so cool that you have a support and that you are consistent, hardworking and persistent when it comes to your favorite business. Good luck with your art journey (from an engineer/teacher of physics/almost artist😁)
@@fructusillustrations You are very, very, VERY NAIVE! You just mindlessly spew stuff you learned on the internet and think it will work. What on earth makes you think so confidently and arrogantly that ANYONE would want to license your generic stickers? Who in the hell would wholesale your stickers or want to donate to your Patreon lmao. You just spew these types of income streams without actually thinking if it will work for your product, which IT WON'T. DO MORE RESEARCH. NO ONE WILL WHOLESALE YOUR GENERIC STICKERS.
Finding balance and taking time for self-care is so important. Thank you for sharing your experiences so far. I am working on launching my business as well and can relate to so much of this.

I loved it! Thanks for sharing your reality and give us such wonderful tips 🐻 I'm so happy your family, friends and your partner have supported you in all of this 💗 About your video editing, I find it so cool, it definitely demonstrates how that "unknown" interest for recording and editing you mentioned have now become into a great and solid skill (: Stay motivated because you're doing fantastic ✨
Aww thank you so much!! I definitely feel really happy and grateful for all the support from those I know in my life and for those who support and encourage me online like you!🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
I could totally relate to everything you said in the video. It is hard when you are the only one incharge of marketing, social media handling, accountant and business owner. But, the passion we have that's what leads us. Good luck with your shop. Hope you reach great heights. ❤
