Joel, those Navigator's are great little boats. I really regret not being able to be there for the Crooza. See you on the Bay. OutnBacker - Montgomery 17 #65

Your vessel is wonderfully graceful! I am compelled to ask you, IF you had no bow sprit, and you attached your jib's tack to an eye in the top of the stem, how many degrees of "to windward" ability from each side would you loose? Thank you for sharing this Great footage!

The answer to your question is "some". There are so many variables. That same job, attached to the stem rather than to the bowsprit would overlap the mainsail by more; the angle of the luff would be steeper and the angle of the leach would be wrong; the centre or effort of the whole sail plan would be slightly further aft. The slot between jib and mainsail would be differently configured. The boat would have more weather helm. You cannot just change one part of a carefully designed sail plan without affecting several other key variables. At the very least, if you did away with the bowsprit and put a jib with the tack at the stem, you'd need a new jib designed for that location. The rig would be less efficient aerodynamically and you'd lose a few degrees of pointing.

I bet you will always be really good at making videos spoiled by wind noise.

Dream Diction There are so many much nicer ways of saying this. The noises were authentic, and no dreadful ‘musak’.

@@johnstarkie9948 Violent rustling noise is not natural. Put a piece of open cell foam over the microphone hole on your camera and the wind will sound like a gentle whispering hiss.
