More than 200 sailors on the USS George Washington took the opportunity Monday to move off the ship to accommodations at a local installation. The move is part of the Navy's response to support the crew who lost three shipmates to suicide within one week in April.

BS. I saw an earlier article where the family of a suicide victim said the daytime noise of the refit was relentless, no showers, only peace was in his car which was parked a mile away. Probably noxious air from refit activities. Was this some sort of psychological study? Nah, just upper management incompetence.

PLEASE, all young people need to research where they will be stationed before going through MEPS. The USS George Washington and "Fat Leonard," etc. issues are not limited to the US Navy. The NavyTimes, MilitaryTimes and Task & Purpose are a great resources. The media needs to not let loose of this command climate and leadership ONGOING PROBLEM! A WWII US Navy Veteran's daughter and a person that served. Semper Fortis to all the young sailors that serve and have served with honor! 👩‍🦰😷♟⚓☕🍩

The Navy needs to focus on leadership and junior sailors instead of freemasonry stuff to benefit their own selfish careers.

I still don't understand the need or want to kill oneself over refitting noise. They can put in ear plugs or those little earbuds and play music, at least while they're on break or after their shift. apriotly alot of them seeked help but after months of waiting and no help coming. welp. it was bad 1 in 50 sailors on the ship did it or attempted too.

Went thru the same refueling... yea it was stressful but were the navy so why do we care. Tough it out, that's what we had to do. The generations before lived through worse. So we just did what we had to because they did. This new generation can't hack it.
