Thank you for what you do. My Dad was one too. Retired Master Chief Master Diver. He was a Navy Diver in Vietnam and was UDT. He was on sub rescue most of his career. Was also head engineman and ran the hyperbaric camber on the ship and in a hospital after he got out. He wrote a book on hyperbaric medicine. Did a lot of work for the agency while in. RIP Tommy R Berry.
I am going to join the navy, I talked to a recruiter and he showed me the job of a NAVY diver..I was blown away and the people seem so motivated. I am now getting myself mentally and physically ready for diving school! #Inspired
@@vegasbob0075 some jobs let you out of the school with a 2nd class petty officer rank after just 2 yrs of school ( now don't ask me which ones because i won't remember) I just remember being at the school in great lakes and having a tour of other rates offer there and they told us that ( I got out in 2003). But is possible to make rank quick with certain jobs ; now other ones that over staffed you will be there a second or third re-enlistment before you make it to chief like a Boatswain's mate.
Hello I used to do navy diving with the Royal Navy, was an adqual marine engineer and mine clearance diving. Great guys, good runs ashore great kit to use, it's better now than when I did it all changed. Good career well I thought so. Good travel join the navy and see the world it's possible even these days with all the defence cuts.
If it is lost underwater, he finds it. If it's sunk, he brings it up. If it's in the way, he moves it. If he's lucky, he will die young, 200 feet beneath the waves, for that is the closest he'll ever get to being a hero.
navy divers can do parachuting too? thats so awesome! my uncle was a paratrooper in vietnam and my family is from guam too. this video really inspired me
I very desperately want to become a navy diver. WITH GREAT PASSION. Im afraid i wont score high enough on my asvab to be completely honest. I'm very behind on math. The rest is some what easy to study. But my math is lacking hard core. I need a tutor or somthing. And probably many months it.
QuadCore Gaming i have the same problem, but its ultimately about understanding the subject for yourself. but more than the asvab i would worry about being confident in the water and keeping an athletic lifestyle up regularly so you are accustomed to frequent and even some intense exercise.
Navy diver now for 10 years and some change. I watched this video before I joined. This kinda hyped it up more then what it is. Hope you like a lot of rules and paperwork with the job. But still best job in the navy I say. Love going to work even still. Still going strong with 9 more years left before I retire.
thank you for posting this video it was so inspirational to watch. I want to be a navy diver myself and it was very inspiring to see that it is very much so possible for a woman to accomplish this.
Do not join any service without getting what you are going to get ON PAPER. You are going to be in for 4 years so get what you are qualified for and want.
Ezio Auditore Real salvage diving doesn't have anything whatsoever to do with guns nor does it necessitate carrying any automatic weopons at all! They do that for propaganda means in order to recruit young naive men for the Navy. They know that half the young men probably wouldn't even qualify for the TEAMS and that they know nothing about diving careers outside of the Military such as the Merchant MARINES or even diving careers in the Offshore Oil Industry and underwater welding careers in the civilian quaters that has very competitive pay and very lucrative benefits even higher than that of the Navy. Hollywood movies and military commercials get kids in the military recruiting offices every time. They don't even know all of the real options available to them.
Can someone explain when she says "you can go to a special operations or an EOD command? What do special ops divers do? Aren't special ops divers SEALS? Aren't Navy EOD operators trained to be divers too? Why would they have those commands if the Navy already has SEALS and EOD? I'm confused
I'm 32 years old and I want to become a Navy diver. I just want to know how difficult it is to get a waiver for me to be able to join. Or if I'm to old to do so.

bobba fettywap its called practice and get your foundation pacted down. and you wont just have to swim to pass the training, you'll do lots of push ups and sit ups and pull ups and much more. the best 2 things you can do if you are serious about this is to do your research on the navy's website and take on an athletic lifestyle.
I enlisted about a year ago and have gone through the selection process. it is very hard to get into. they only take several divers a month. you have to have a score of about a 9 min 500 yard swim, around 85 pushup and around 85 sit ups both within 2 minuite period as well as a 1.5 mile run at at time in the neighborhood of 9:30 to get looked at. if you want to do this look up Rodger Roberts. he is the naval special warfare mentor and ex navy seal from my area. he will tell you exactly what you need to do without all the recruiter bs and he will tell you how to train. training is crucial. learn the combat sidestroke and do bodyweight exercises like it's your job.
+Ryan Brown those numbers are more realistic for Seal/SWCC. I'm in DEPS with a diver contract with a 10:20 swim,64push-ups,76sit-ups,14pull ups,8:54run
I thought Navy divers were officers only. I went to the Navy jobs website and they have rescue swimmers in the enlisted category and navy divers for officers.
@@3600vegeta My son wanted to be a rescue swimmer. He went to MEPS, and at this time, he is only waiting for some clearance with his vision. His vision is fine, but he needed a second opinion from his eye doctor. I don't think he is going to have any problems with that. However, What he was told at MEPS though, was that rescue swimmers are only enlisted. He had to pick Surface warfare officer (swo) then. What commission is the rescue swimmer job title for officer?
So i was looking into becoming a navy diver I graduate in may 2017 i know how to swim but I can't wrap my head around swimming under water like I can but I have to hold my nose if not water will get into my nose and throat and stuff .. any suggestions?
Maorawrath I'm a rescue, cavern and scientific diver looking to become a Navy diver. You'll be operating in a hostile environment that'll have dramatic pressure changes on your body. A few dangerous things include. -decompression sickness which can lead to a lot of things including paralysis and even death. -arterial gas embolism or your lungs bursting -ruptured ear drum -nitrogen necrosis -drowning -chlostrophobia -wildlife -operating a torch underwater with a pressurized cylinder on your back which could cause you to explode. the list goes on and on. Diving is dangerous but the Navy will teach you to master it. Just remember dont panic. Fear leads to panic and panic leads to your worst fears coming true. Although it's dangerous if you have the right training and follow the rules diving is awesome. Don't let fear keep you from what you want to do.
Hi, Chief Petty officer Rebecca Jones. I just your video on being a diver in the U.S. Navy. I saw it one other time before, but I didn' t subscribe. And now, I just subscribed. I want to,say Thank you for your service, in defending the North American coast. My name is Corey, in case you're concerning who I am. Sincerely, Corey Hansen.
@@PeterGNGKyokushinkaikan I'm just curious- what were some of the things you went through in Dive School pre-1999 that you think/know they've changed since? I agree that the standards should not be lowered just because quotas aren't being filled, so I want to know what was failing guys back then that isn't now.
Donna Tobias was the first female diver back in 75, standards have not been lowered, just less mysogynist men in the military, you’re just as bad as extreme feminists
Very patriotic but not very business wise. I graduated from the Ocean Corp 6 years ago and i earn at least twice as her. And a don't work the whole year.
