For the first time after separation from her billionaire husband, Nawaz Modi Singhania, the estranged wife of Raymond MD Gautam Singhania, has accused the industrialist of beating her and throwing her out of the company. In an exclusive interview with India Today, Nawaz Modi Singhania talked about a host of issues, including the Diwali party, where she was invited but was not allowed to get in.
Gautam has refused to comment on the fresh allegations. "In the interest of my two beautiful daughters, I would like to maintain my family's dignity and I will refrain from offering any comment. Please respect my privacy," he said. The billionaire announced separation from his wife Nawaz Modi on November 13, a day after Diwali. Nawaz has now sought 75 per cent of Raymond Group's Rs 11,000 crore empire.

Doesn't justify 75%. If you invest 75 you get to demand/walk away with 75. If his dad wanted 75, I'll understand. He's the one who built this empire. I'm sure Gautam did what he did. Looks like a case of demand a high figure and then the courts will award much less, but if you demand low then the courts will reduce it even further (negligible) - typical compensation strategy.

In fact, I don't think Hindu law gives 50%. There is provision of maintenance, and maintenance is a monthly payment, not an asset division. Now daughters can file a case on the father for assets based on ancestral property. There is case law for this.

Only after exiting India did I realize the strength of Indian marriage laws. In USA the guy before marriage insists on prenup. Marriages registered in India work in favour of woman & children in case of dissolution. No wonder the men in India say they r not treated fairly. Tuff life...the woman seems independent...best she has her own source of income. Indian laws i think were made keeping a more weaker woman in mind.

My only worry is - just because she is of female gender, she must not get any undue advantage. The legal system is so biased in favour of women that there's major possibility of that happening. Justice should never be gender biased.

Nawaz is wrong in asking for 75 %. Its a family business, what is her contribution. Vijaypat gave everything to gautam because he took interest and madhupati didn't ! She can get some monthly maintenance and place to stay that's all. How can she be so greedy and wicked !

She is typical gold digger! Why is she seeking 75%? What right she has? Kids can’t get that much amount just because they r kids. Gautam Singhania was also kid of his father,& what did he do to his father- threw him out on roads after he was given property. Husband is ,instep, agreed. Divorce him & seek a good amount to support herself & kids! When kids grow up, their father may hand over the property to them as well. But who is she to demand 75% of business? She did not build up this business! But she is after money,obviously. May be she married him also only for money!

Address to the real damage deficit to your inner self respect. Money is really a very cheap thing. It is Hard earned money which mr.Vijayapat Singhania sweated and got throughout his life and he made a terrible mistake by gifting the property and business to his son Gautam. He can claim back the same as his son disrespects him and made him leave the house. Even his daughter in law cannot get 75% of the property and business as she has no say in the business. She can get a reasonable amount for taking care of herself and their daughter, that's all. Hope they amicably sit and get things sorted out and think of each other humanly. Why does the woman want 75% of business? She is typical gold-digger! Gautam Singhania is monster,agreed. Divorce him & get a good amount to support herself & kids! But she has no right to get this much from a business which she did not build up ! His father who built this empire was thrown out, she was ok with it. He got nothing.
