When released by the Scottish rock group Nazareth in 1975, they were doing their version of Boudleaux Bryant's original song. Bryant, a native of Alabama, originally wrote the song for Phil and Don Everly (the Everly Brothers). It was later recorded by Roy Orbison and a number of other country and popular music singers. Dan McCafferty's raspy rock voice made it one of the premier rock classics of all time. It is still requested by many fans and a favorite of many radio stations. The album HAIR OF THE DOG, which included LOVE HURTS, became an immensely popular album.
