As a guy from Naz"s home city Dunfermline in Scotland and them being family friends my whole life I can tell you EXACTLY how Dan got that voice. In the mid/late 60s the band that Naz became were actually a soul band and Dan had a beautiful soul voice. One Friday night, the night before a gig at a local venue, he went out to that venue with a mate and drank a BOTTLE AND A HALF OF BRANDY to himself! Needless to say he was VERY drunk and passed out at home. When he woke up extremely hung over he found he had actually BURNED his vocal chords with the vast quantity of brandy! After that, he had the IMMENSE rock growl he lived off the rest of his life almost.

I am also from Dunfermline...these lads were altar boys at St Margaret's .. This song is played in the Philippines a lot..it used to make me smile every time I heard it..

Should have lived through this stuff. I was just a kid when this came out. I’m 64 now and the memories and emotions the songs of that era still evoke the passions of my youth. Great stuff….

This son is iconic. I was barely a teen when this came out and this song and “Son of a Bitch” played all the time on the radio and especially in the skating rinks. Love this song!! Thanks for reacting!!🙏🏼🌹💕

Love Hurts by Nazareth is one of the greatest Rock songs of all time. It was first done by the Everly Brothers in 1960 and has been covered by many others over the years, including Joan Jett and Cher. There's even a disco version of it that should have never *ever* seen the light of day. Loved your reaction and hope you look a little deeper into the Nazareth rabbit hole. Another Rock classic of theirs is *Hair of the Dog*, which is a banger. *This Flight Tonight*, originally sung by Joni Mitchel, is another cover that they made their own. When Joni heard it, she said it was no longer her song, she liked it that much.

The guitar played by Manny Charlton is an Eko Indy, made in Italy, which was based on the Gibson SG, but the control layout, pickguard shape and truss-rod adjuster placement are different from anything Gibson ever produced.

Nazareth covered this song in 1976, The Everly Brothers originally did this song in the late 1950s and it’s been covered a lot over the years.

Been waiting for this one! I just love his vocals here. People always says it's a depressing song, (probably depends on where you are in life), but I hear a unique voice and a killer guitar solo! Simple but beautiful

No one like Nazareth love. They are a treat. Try their Dream On song. Strange video but great song. I grew up with Naz in the 70s. Dont forget Hair of the Dog that Gun's n Roses covered. As for the guitar solo.....It was accomplished by Manny Charlton with a Marshall amplifier stack, a Les Paul, a bottleneck slide, and lots of harmonic feedback.

I grew up listening to Nazareth in the 70's, with singer Dan McCafferty, and have seen them in concert 3 times. He does a lot of hard Rock songs, but if you love the ballads, I will suggest, "I Want To Do Everything For You", "I Don't Want To, Go On Without You", "Down Home Girl", or "Carry Out Feelings"..

Just a thought most never concider but everybody learns,.. Even the most passionate love that lasts two people a whole lifetime ends in tragedy and pain. Why? Because at some point, the person you might have spent your entire life loving ends with the death of somebody. The person you love the most in your life ends up being alone and hurt or you do...

I was 20 years of age when this song came out. I mean, it's pretty good rock and all, and all my friends loved it.. I just couldn't take it seriously. One year early began the decline of rock and roll, in my opinion. It was still ok, but it was a "product" much like Pop music. But, I did enjoy your reaction to it.
