Bill Sharman's 88.3 is more impressive when one realizes equipment in the fifties was far less consistent. Also, the equipment has improved a lot since Barry shot 90% underhanded.
@@ColonelSpankysLostBattalion The ball manufacturer and testing improved significantly since Sharman. The rim since Barry and just the expenses put into the game. The floors are of course much better but doesn't really effect free throw s. The Boston Garden was infamous for dead spots and the myth is Bird knew every imperfection making it into an additional defender.
People don't understand how much fundamental and focus/shooting skills it takes to make free throws, usually after getting fouled. And I noticed two things, MJ was so great that even thou he isn't known to be a fundamental shooter, he made it on this list for shooting freebies at 0.85%. Also, Ray Allen is too impressive for someone who was able to adapt his game and became a great shooter.
