Anytime I stumble across media with him in it he always comes across as someone who takes immense pride, pleasure and responsibility in his job. Seems like a standup guy as well who just loves the sport of basketball. Hats off comish! Hammer dahn

When you do watch a game there's nothing but penalties and flopping, and Star players are always sitting out for load management. Idc hm the league makes because the on court product is trash.
This was a great interview. I do not watch the NBA, but this is what the commissioner should be like, he is very passionate about his league and tells you he wants it to move forward, change, and try new ideas, etc. Unlike some other commissioners who seem to be there for their ego and money only.
It would be cool of they could invite other teams from other leagues. I have no idea how that would work, but i would not mind seeing how spain would do against nba teams
Might be more interesting for the all star games though. Maybe introduce some Fiba 3x3 type basketball and have NBA players compete against international on a half court. Might go pretty hard.
@THE_DEEZLE the NBA would never have been this big if Stern wasn't commissioner. It was Stern who made the Bird vs Magic rivalry, and that rivalry is the ONLY reason the NBA didn't go under. They were losing money every single year, until Stern made Bird and Magic household names. Reason Silver is better is he added a challenge on if referee miss the call and if successful call will be reversed plus 2nd challenge is added, In-Season Tournament is added, Finals Schedule is better in terms of days off needed, reduction of back to back games, no more 4 games in 5 nights, plus all Star break is 1 week and replay system.

It gives players a reason to show up and play their best, it’s mainly to provide the best form of entertainment for the audience. That’s most likely what they had in mind behind it
The same reason why we care about championships it's just an arbitrary thing they made up for us to like. We like the championship because The players do. If the players take it serious and care fans will. And for the most part the teams played harder than a 'normal" regular season game. The courts are awful though
The NBA has been rigged since the Jordan era. The first time it was noticeable was the 92 NBA finals game six. The refs helped to bring the Bulls back in that game. Then in the 94 playoffs Bulls Knicks when Hue Hollins called the phantom foul on Pippen to ensure that the bulls did not go to finals without MJ. The Lakers Kings Series and plenty of other. I base all my NBA bets on who is reffing each game. I do win more than I lose and it’s sad that I have to do that.
This In season tournament doesn't fix the glaring issues still wrong with the current NBA. It's just so boring to watch, even playoffs games aren't as good as the baseball playoffs. I mean, even the freakin' baseball playoffs is more exciting then the NBA playoffs. Only this time, the league doesn't have a bird/johnson to save it this time around. Episodes of gunsmoke were chosen to be aired over live basketball playoff games back in the day.
