It's tough watching these videos of the 1999-2000 suns knowing this was the last year they wore their awesome Barkley/Kidd 1992-2000 era jerseys before switching to a boring and ugly set of uniforms for the next season.
What really sucks is how injuries derailed what could have been a dynamic backcourt in Penny Hardaway & Jason Kidd. When Hardaway & Kidd were together the Suns won a lot (33-12).
@@Miller2h41 Very good point. People often say the whole Backcourt 2000 experiment was a bad idea that was never gonna work, but the results were pretty good when both guys were in the lineup together. I feel like they would've legitimately contended for a title in 1999-2000 if their injury luck wasn't so bad. You can only look back on this now just think about what could've been smh.
@@coreyrowe4119 The backcourt experiment of Hardaway & Marbury was bad. Jason Kidd was a pass-first while Stephon Marbury was shoot-first. If injuries didn't derail the backcourt duo of Hardaway & Kidd I believe they would have last 5 or 6 years in my opinion.
@@Miller2h41 I know there were other non-basketball factors that went into the Kidd/Marbury trade but Phoenix definitely got the short end of that deal since Marbury just wasn't a good fit with the majority of the Suns roster at that moment.
That teaser of a record when Hardaway & Kidd were in the lineup together (33 - 12) showed that label of "Backcourt 2000" was deserving and would have been dynamic if injuries didn't derail that duo.
Even with all the injuries and surgeries to Penny's knees no more explosive athleticism he still was unstoppable his basketball IQ was second to none Penny was that dude.
I had no idea Nick Anderson got traded to the Kings. LoL why would any team want him after the 4 missed FTs? He cost Penny and Shaq and the Orlando Magic their 1st championship.
