Holy shit Dominique was such a beast 😭😭. Somehow he looks even more athletic now than when I watched him.back them. He was so good man. He could get to the rim at will with his handles and once there no one could stop him. He had the mid range game and could step out for the three
Regardless of who your favorite team is, Domineque Wilkins was fun to watch. He was one of the most athletic forwards to play the game and his jumping ability (how he seemed to hang in the air) was amazing. One of the very few players who I would compare athletically to Jordan. A lot of great players came out of this era.
What a finish by Bird. Bird may arguably be the most clutch player ever and certainly deserves to be mentioned along the likes of Jordan (Kobe imo wasn't as great as Jordan and Bird as fans make him out to be). Ainge got ejected and Spud Webb closed the gap for the Hawks. In the last 3 minutes or so when the Hawks made it a close game, Bird had about 8 points, a pair of dimes to Parish, a key offensive rebound to get an easy put-back lay-in, and was playing solid defense on Dominique down the stretch.
This game would have never gotten so close had Bird not disappeared for such a long stretch in the 2nd half. I've watched a ton of Celtic games from the mid 80s, and that's the only thing I can say against Larry Bird. He was TOO unselfish.

KC Jones was also loved and respected by the team. Watch the enshrinement videos of the players talking about him. He was described as the best human being on the planet. When Don Nelson threw some negative comments at KC, The 85-86 Celtics took it personally and destroyed the Bucks.
He was --in fact, he is-- one of the more astonishing sports narrators of his time. And ke talks in a so excellent English that even people from abroad are able to understand. Remarkable.

After winning the World Championship in 2024, the entire crew is coming back for next season. I wish Mike Gorman would put off retirement for another season. I think he's SO much better than Johnny Most was.
The 83 Sixers were better than all the 80s teams. In my opinion, the 86 Boston Celtics are the worst and luckiest team to ever win an NBA Title. So unathletic, bad scoring from inside or outside, terrible passing team that always looked so confused, not a good 3 point shooting team, bad rebounding, bad coaching, no bench whatsoever, except for Jerry Sichting, and were garbage away from the Boston Garden. I don't understand how so many of you guys get brainwashed into thinking the 85-86 Celtics were the "greatest team ever". I truly believe the Louisville Cardinals, who won the college National Championship that season, would take this Celtics team to 7 games, and might even win.
Celtics of course we all know won their sweet 16 in 86 and end up drafting Len Bias with the 2nd pick in the draft, a player who NBA scouts compared to Michael Jordan and James Worthy, that's pretty damn good, unfortunately we all know what happened, just imagine if tragedy didnt happen, Celtics definitely would have won more championships, prolonged Bird and McHale's careers and lets not forget about Reggie Lewis, another player who was developing into an all-star, Michael Cooper during one of his podcast shows said Bias was so talented, saw him play in a few tournaments and said he knew that kid was going to be a great NBA player whoever he played for, Coop's also said the Celtics would have won more championships than the Lakers back then during that era, overall the saddest part is two very young men passed away at such young ages, RIP Bias and Lewis
In the 1986 playoffs Robert Parish average 15 points a game 8.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks not bad and they won the championship. By the way they also had Bill Walton as a backup center so Parish didn't really need to do anymore than what he did.
@@thomasgriffiths6758 U are correct. I was abit harsh on Parish. Parish definitely 'played his position' and was a great complement to Bird and McHale. . . If Walton could have stayed healthy and McHale didn't have to play with a broken foot- 1987 wood have been another title
You do realize with McHale, Bird and Walton along with Parish, they crushed teams on the boards. Your argument is he had double digit rebounds 8 times in 18 games. He led the team in rebounds during the playoffs that year. Jesus, young ignorant basketball fans drive me nuts.
Parish and Walton combined for 25 points on 10-17 shooting, with 12 rebounds in this game in 48 minutes. Not too shabby......considering that Bird and McHale combined for 58 points on 25-39 shooting, with 17 rebounds themselves......
