He was not the fastest but he had enough speed to make a run.. he was a midfielder who played in his own pace and midfielders usually aren't that face in any era obviously there are exceptions, u should react to Brazilian ronaldo (R9) who was mad fast and quick!

Trust me if this guy played today he'd be the best midfielder in the world. He played in the 90's and 00's so he is not that old. He is the same era as Ronaldo(R9) and Ronaldinho. He was not slow, but he was not lightning fast, he played the game at his own pace. When you see a player who can practically walk through a game,and be the best player on the pitch, you are watching a master. This guy is a players player. The more you play or even watch the sport the more you appreciate just how good this dude is. You got to think he is making players fall over that are just as fast and agile as him, who are pro Defenders (at a time when La Liga/Spain had the best players in the their league, so he was facing the best defenders). He is not doing it with speed, or acceleration, he is doing it with momentum and timing, because he is one the most gifted footballers to ever be , he is a top 5 all time player, no doubt in my mind. When you see a guy walking through the highest levels of Football like its nothing , you are watching greatness (other players that did this, Bergkamp, Riquelme, Berbatov, Le Tissier, but Zidane was the best of all these guys, and all these guys were some of the best of their generations, Zidane is better than all of them) This guy is probably the greatest pure midfielder ever. Maradona is the only guy you could say might be better as a Midfielder, anything else would be bullshit

As a football fan since i was little kid, the one advice I'd give you when watching videos on Zidane is to watch for his technique and control on the ball. The man was simply unmatched in terms of ability to control the ball and dictate the flow in midfield. A true maestro of the midfield.

The maestro. His era is the one filled with the most legends (like the 90's nba) and he is head and shoulder above them. For french people he is a national hero, and almost a god. Every time a new french wonderkid appears comparisons are drawn but no one comes close.

You are absolutely right, the games seem slow back then. But just like every sport, the sport evolved to a faster pace, obviously more finesse and even more physical.
