Dr. J's rock the cradle dunk in the NBA finals is my favorite dunk in NBA history. I watch that game live. My favorite dunk since seeing when it happened.💯
@philipatoz
@philipatoz 5 лет назад
To me, Dr. J is the guy who really started America's excitement over dunking. Just thinking of all those times he would take off at the foul line, reach the apex and then come down on the rim like he was landing a jet. Man, his knees must hurt him today!

DR J started and invented it. But MJ did my favorite version of it from the right hand side and the other direction in the 80s in games and dunk contests, though.

That first move by Doc is, to me, still the greatest single move/play in NBA history. I'm sure there have been better things since but for that time (and even now) it was out of this world. I've always said there were many players better than Erving but no player evolved the game quicker than he did. He was the most monolithic player ever.

At 1:50, the entire arena stands up BEFORE Dr J makes the dunk in anticipation for what he would do. That’s incredible. It’s like thousands of people collectively had the same thought, “oh snap, the doctors got the ball! watch what he’s gonna do on this fast break!”

The one thing we were robbed of in the Jordan era was a Olajuwan/Jordan matchup in the finals we lost out on in '94 and '95 due to Jordan playing baseball. Hakeem was just a guy who added and added to his game every year, at his peak he was the most complete center I ever saw.
@robotube7361
@robotube7361 Год назад
Actually he was always skilled af. its just he never had a team around him to do what Jordan did. Hakeem didnt have Pippen and a well oiled machine behind him. He carried those teams on his back. The only help he had was in 1986 when he had Samson but that was brief and he reached the finals with Samson in his 2 years in NBA. the Bulls without Jordan were championship caliber team alone.Let that sink in. They were eliminated by the Knicks 4-3 who then narrowly lost the final 4-3 to Hakeem. I dont think Olajuvon's Houston in 1994 would have beaten the Bulls with Jordan. The Bulls were just on another level with Jordan. If Hakeem had at least another hall of famer on his team - then it might have been a different story.

Other than a couple of Larry Bird's buzzer beaters missing, especially one against Dallas, in 1985, this was a great compilation.

You got to respect your elder cause he's the one that though you the ways.DR.J is .When they played at that time is was rough then after that when you touch the opponent jersey they will call you a foul.Thats what makes him a pioneer.

Same here , and not just for his basketball skills . He didn't act like a self absorbed jerk before or after doing something amazing .

Very nice compilation and video quality. I would have also added the LJ 4 point play and Rex Chapman's 3 point playoff heave!

There is something about 3:07 that is so special. Its not just the play. The commentary by Gumbel and the pure emotion of his call. John Stockton sends the Utah Jazz to the NBA Finals! That was my childhood watching basketball.

Dr J’s dunk is the absolute #1 play of all time in the NBA. It had power, style, grace, height, flare. Back when the NBA wasn’t garbage.
