NBA Legends Explain Why It’s So Hard To Guard Steph Curry At 36
When NBA greats see Stephen Curry and say he’s different, it’s not just about draining threes from another zip code or dribbling defenders out of their shoes.
There’s something else, something almost supernatural about it.
While most guys his age are slowing down, Steph is speeding up, flipping the script on Father Time. So what’s his secret?
Let’s hear it straight from the legends themselves. And who better to kick off our list at number 15 than someone who’s been toe-to-toe with Steph in the biggest moments - LeBron James.
When you think about intense NBA rivalries, LeBron and Steph are right up there. So when LeBron was asked on HBO’s The Shop who he’d want to team up with, he didn’t hesitate.
His top picks? His son, Bronny, and the man who makes defenders lose sleep, Steph Curry.
And he didn’t just casually mention Curry, he practically spotlighted him.

@itzanopinion
@itzanopinion 6 дней назад
ya'll here this....??? the movement of the offense, especially Curry, is what everyone on this list is talking about....how it wears the opposing team down... Therefore, logically speaking, "IF" you were to take the Warriors from any of their championship years and put them up against any of Bull's winning years, do you really think Bulls clearly win? I watched MJ and his Bulls win those 6 rings....there wasn't even nearly the 'ball movement' back in those days as there is now! And there was NO ONE like Curry, who would jus 'run, run, run', damn near all game!

Tbh people overrate steph off ball. I feel like its actually its a huge deficiency in basketball players ability as a whole to understand off ball movement. I say that because coming from soccer you recognize being able to see empty space and predict possible ball movement with triangle passing. I recommend you younging if you play basketball, play soccer on the side instead of football or something. Passing is the absolute minimum in soccer and being a jokic type passer transitioning to basketball is natural and easy. Just look up barcelona passing highlights and the way they see and fill empty space.
@KxngKUDA
@KxngKUDA 18 дней назад
I can see where you're coming from, and yes, a lot of players today don't really understand the intricacies of off ball play. But to call Steph's off ball movement "overrated" is cynical and disingenuous. It's not just about filling in space, but adjusting to the biggest variable in the game. Steph moves more than any superstar throughout history. He is a constant threat inside and out. He gets a shot off in .4 seconds at all time great accuracy. He's literally the only guard top 10 all time in EFG% and the only one who's average range of efficiency is over 20ft from the basket. When he is on the court, you HAVE to crowd him regardless of your assignment. That leads to defensive breakdowns when a lack of communication moves an extra defender away from their man. That's why he's had many different players thrive in his system. Combine that with the fact that he doesn't only move to get jumpshots, but to also get backdoor cuts to the rim, collapse defenses for others to score, even just to get people to LOOK at him, and that all plays into why he's an anomaly.
@KxngKUDA
@KxngKUDA 18 дней назад
If you gave Jokic a player like Curry, he'd be unstoppable. Because Steph's effective range of danger expands to literally half court. And no one runs like he does EVERY GAME. He'd make MPJ take good shots. That's how much attention he draws.
@josephrafferty6763
@josephrafferty6763 17 дней назад

@actuallymario7676
@actuallymario7676 17 дней назад
@@KxngKUDA nah basketball players are just behind so you think that. If off ball movement made you amazing, then all my 11 year old soccer buddies as kids would have been impressive as fuck to you. Curry has every other skill to make that makes him amazing. Dont get me wrong its a skill but basketball players just dont recognize how reproducible his off ball movement is. And i mean pro nba players do not realize that. It is such an easy thing to do, you make it sound generationally rare when that is paradoxical to the very reason i made the point. Baskbetball players have a BLATANT off ball deficiency in general. It was actually surprising just how bad everyone was at my local park when i first started playing a couple months ago. Literally no one understands how to move off ball. Not trying to belittle nba intellect because these players are intelligent, but seriously elementary school soccer kids are better than some nba players. Russ for example does not have the faintest idea of seeing and filling empty space. And i know russ is a smart individual so the contrast between being so smart and not knowing such basic elementary concepts that soccer kids learn young was soooooo surprising when i watch nba as adult. Thats why im recommending soccer over football, which is a dangerous sport most will never go nfl and even myself got injured playing, and many youngings always play bball and football when they should drop that garbage rough sport and play soccer and bball as well. This will give them the best set of skills.
@actuallymario7676
@actuallymario7676 17 дней назад
@@KxngKUDA like bro im really not tryna diss. I really cannot express how absurd the contrast between this billion dollar league paying players millions of dollars and them struggling with things that kids in soccer have to know. Passing is just under prioritized which is fine, bball plays a lot different. Which is why a lot of players arent aware of the disparity. They just dont know because they arent aware of the perspectives like mine which if taken into account, would improve every players skills tenfold.
