Shaq love too many Krispy Cream and got fat and out of shape. Kobe would get totally frustrated with Shaq because of his conditioning. Wilt bench press 650 lbs and 600 at age 59. High jump in college ran the 400 meters on the Kansas University track team. Played the whole game all 48 minutes 82 game season for 13 seasons and never fouled out of the game. He would expend so much energy that half time he would eat a whole two layer cake or consume a whole apple pie. Sometimes on the off season he would water fast for 10 days at a time. ALWAY in shape and condition, no "load management" a very kind but confident man. A man who holds all the records and could play in any Era. Also the first player in the NBA to get $2 million dollar contract. Champion volleyball player at age 53. Stop it and do your homework Shaq knows who Wolt really was. Peace.

@@shafiqshabazz2462 , you know i "almost" believe until you said "82" games 🤦🏻‍♂️. As i read history., there were.only "62" games during that time ... yeah i am having a hard time seeing Wilt all that, BECAUSE i only started watching NBA in late 70s till now 2022, and watched Jabbar, Shaq, Olajuwan, Ewing,and Giannis as greatest 🏀 CENTERs .. and hearing many stories of Jabbar, not really hearing much about Wilt except as a name in cartoon Harlen Gobotrers .... and my relatives did not really like Wilt because they say Wilt was a ONE MAN TEAM, only "give me the ball" pushing his teamates, did not like sharing the ball, like Kobe-Mamba. Well i am only 60, and my Uncles played street TEAM basketball in the 60s-70s, in my island Guam, most of them dead now, they be like 76+ age older if still alive. Everyone i know (and read/see on ESPN, Sports illustrated, Bleacher, forgot the 4th name), reported by "paid professionals writers/reporters said SHAQ is the MOST DOMINANT CENTER IN NBA HISTORY, and the thing is "i saw it" , and to include NBA COACHES said "they do NOT have an answer to BEAT SHAQ. But NOW watching this video, i just do not really know, but hearing Jabbar talk about Wilt is AMAZING. I know that Wilt only have 2 Rings, and many record breaking, BUT LETS FACE IT "RINGS and STATs are IMPORTANT" to be in "TOP 10 NBA GOAT" between over 75 years of NBA players, that is a lot of PLAYERS to compare against. You can NOT. ignor that pass 6-7 years, the NBA players are FASTER, QUICKER. HIGH FLYING ABOVE RIM!, SLAM DUNKING ACROBATIC MOVEs, and absolutely crazy amazing shooting abilities COMPARED to 60's. GSW Chef S. Curry is so small at only 6'4" Shooting Guard, is unquestionable the GOAT SHOOTER. Basketball as we know has always been a BIG TALL MAN GAME, but Air Mike, and NOW Chef Curry is changing the game,.NBA coaches are scatching thier brains how to BEAT THIS 3pt scoring threats by smaller/quicker players. So based on this video i am NOW looking at Wilt differently. Someone said Wilt had 4 MVPs ? What years if you know ? Shaq's signature move was the Booty Bonk. He would sit back, ramming his bottom into a defender, using his mass to move the defender back a full step or more, then turn and shoot. That would have been an offensive foul 30 years earlier, but no one called it on Shaq. Rules of college basketball were changed because of Wilt. It used to be "legal" for the inbound pass to go over the backboard. Wilt would jump and grab the ball from above the top of the backboard (12 feet in the air) and deposit the ball in the hoop on the way down. There was no defense for that.

In 2000 season Phil challenged Shaq to play 48 minutes for whole season just like Wilt. But he was never able to do it although he managed to achieve career high 40 mins avg. Wilt did it for 3 consecutive seasons. Imagine all those running steps, leaping for dunks rebounds block shots, double hand- checks and hacking he took , still was able to avg 46 mins for whole career. What a stamina!

I am old enough to have seen Wilt play with the 76ers in that great 1967 season. Believing any other player is better than he was is like believing the Earth is flat. Wilt was both the strongest and the fastest player in the game when he played, and he was right up there among the most intelligent. I saw him once grab a rebound and make the outlet pass and then run past all 9 other players on the floor to dunk the ball on the fast break. The knock against him is that he only won two titles, on teams that went 68-13 and 69-13. He didn't play for the Celtics, who were more dominant then with 10 great players than the Yankees were with Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. An interesting factoid: Wilt's next door neighbor was the GOAT of TV Game shows--Bill Cullen.

I'm a fan of Shaquille O'Neal. But let's be honest- he got away with lowering his shoulder and bulldozing over players on a regular basis. In Chamberlain's day, that was an offensive foul- and the referees were not scared to make a tough call on a superstar.

One thing people never realize is with all the folks who challenged him underneath. Wilt never fouled out of a game in his life. Not high school, not college, not for the globetrotters, nor as a professional NBA player. That is grace along with strength. There was one time in the playoffs against the Knicks he got 5 fouls. It went to OT and 3 times guys took him to the hoop in hopes of that last foul? It didn't happen. And Wilt challenged on each. Never backing away to avoid fouling out.

As a guy watching the NBA since 1961 and having enjoyed wilt and then listen to these folks today try to brag the players they saw as the goat.. Sorry all you missed Wilt. Most impressive was wilt strength.. to average 48.5 minutes per game one year.. he missed 8 minutes of all games in one year.. Wilt was the greatest.. Former mr universe Arnold swizztnigers was lifting weights with wilt when he was 59 years old and still bench pressing 550 pounds.. I must say no one in their prime lifted 250 pounds.. I just say to these folks ..you have no idea what wilt could do, did and was able to do..So many of his records will never be broken.. imagine wilt has not played in almost 50 years and still owns 10 times more records than anyone who every played.. still the goat..

Wilt is the greatest player of all time. It's because he averaged 50 pts 30 rebounds in one season. Scored 100 pts in a game which was hard to do at that era relying only on dunks, free throws and field goals without a 3 pt line. And he was dominant all the time in every game. Not to mention the fact that he was averaging 48 mins a game. That's insane not taking advantage of substitution. Everytime he blocks a guy, that guy is going down. Although, Bill Russell has 11 championship rings, he wasn't really that dominant unlike Wilt.

Wilt was the greatest defensive center bar none. Wilt averaged 23 rebounds & blocked more shots than anyone. Second best offensive center ever right behind Kareem w/ the greatest shit ever the sky hook. Wilt only center to block the sky hook on numerous occasions & he consistently just missed blocking the sky hook by literally an inch. Only played 15 years Kareen played 20 years & had Magic spoon feed him assists his last 6 years in league. If Wilt had Magic he would have played another 3 years & came close to scoring more career points than Kareem. Two best centers in game & no one else close.

Not only was Wilt the GOAT (sorry MJ, Kareem & Shaq) but he was (Like Russell, Shaq & Kareem) a wonderful human being with a great heart!! You can’t beat that! He did everything he did while not wanting to injure his competitors even though he was likely the most fouled player ever! He was kicked so often that he began to wear shin guards to protect his legs. If you’ve ever been kicked in the shins you know how much that hurts! When Jordan, Johnson, played they changed the rules again, to make it easier for them to look good at the game, and their merchandise sells better. Wilt was the real life answer to the question: who can touch the top of the backboard, pick off a quarter and leave 15 cents change? We all know the numbers (for example: 32 times scored 60 or more points in a game, Kobe is second with 6 times), but they only tell part of the story. Durability, for another example. In 1961-62, he averaged over 48 minutes a game - which means he basically played every minute of the season, including overtime. Today, the stars of the league beg off even playing 40 minutes in a single game and then take the next one off (Kevin Durant, I'm talking about you). For sheer athletic ability, get ahold of the video of his college days at Kansas - he romps up and down the court like a gazelle, quick, fast, and agile, with incredible leaping ability. Strength? This guy actually picked up Nate Thurmond (who weighed over 260 pounds) and moved him out of his way during a game. Young people today see all this and have a hard time believing it, but I was around in the early 60s and saw him play in Boston Garden against the Celtics, and I gotta tell ya, it was easy to see back then.

People have forgotten about Wilt. It is impossible to make a "goat" list due to the way the game has changed and of course teammates, and the competition etc. Many people will put Bill Russell over Wilt because of Russell's 11 rings with the Celtics but the reason I cannot do that is because of the head to head competition playing the same position. Here is a summary of these 2 players = in 94 regular season games Russells team won 57 and Wilt's team won 37 = a win % for Russell of 60.6% BUT Russell scored 14.2 points per game on 37.0 FG% and got 22 .9 rebounds per game. Wilt in these same games scored 29.9 points per game on 48.8 FG% and got 28.1 rebounds per game. AND in the playoff games head to head there were 49 games and Russell's team won 29 games and Wilt's team won 20 games = a win % for Russell of 59.18%. In these playoff games Russell scored 14.9 points per game on 41.7% FG and had 24.7 rebounds per game. Wilt in these same playoff games scored 25.7 points per game on 50.8% FG% and had 28.0 rebounds per game. I think it is clear that Wilt scored more points per game and shot a higher FG% and got more rebounds per game than Russell in their head to head match-ups. Wilt clearly outplayed Russell but Russell had the better team and the other 4 players are why Boston won more games. I am not trying to tarnish Russell's great basketball career = Gold medal winner and 2 NCAA championships ( and a 55 game win streak!!) but Wilt was better and outplayed Russell head to head IMO. Thanks!!

Wilt is basically a super-sized Dwight Howard. Wilt has far more post moves, but their skill-sets and weaknesses are basically the same. Wilt would be at least as effective as Howard in the modern game, but Wilt's superior size, durability, and intensity over Howard would make him a superior player to Shaq. Wilt would easily average 30/25 in today's game. He wouldn't score as much simply because there are so many more 3s taken. He wouldn't get as many rebounds because 3s carom farther away from the rim. He would be awesome nonetheless.
@charleschiselcarfagnochise6483
WILT CHAMBERLAIN IS THE GOAT...Basketplayer & all-around athlete ~ far beyond Jordan or anyone else in any sport EVER!!! Do the research on the things Wilt achieved as a sprinter, hurdler, javelin and discuss thrower, triple jumper, high-jumper, and shot putter. He ran a 4.6 40-yard dash at 280 lbs. His vertical leap is believed to have been 45-plus inches. He was also a world-class professional volleyball player. He bench pressed nearly 600 lbs. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Wilt was by far the strongest human being he had ever met ~ that Wilt could LITERALL lift Arnold off the ground with one hand. Wilt got tired of leading the league in scoring n rebounding, so one year he decided to lead the league in assists, and he DID!!! Without the thre-point shot and the way they packed into the paint and played defense in the days of Wilt, Bill Russell et al... Jordan wouldn't have put up half the numbers he did in the ragtag schoolyard NBA of the late 80s & 90s. David Stern, in so many words, said in the video, had Wilt & Russell a fraction of the hyper-media coverage Jordan, Magic, Bird, etc, had the GOAT conversation would be much different. Shaq would be no match for Wilt's ungodly strength & athleticism. While shaking Shaq's hand, Wilt nearly pulled Shaq's arm out of its socket. The force of one Wilt dunk broke an opponent's foot as hit the court. Wilt Chamberlain is the greatest athlete of all time PERIOD!!!

"You obviously never saw Wilt Chamberlain play who undoubtedly was the greatest scorer this game has ever known. When did MJ ever average 50.4 points per game plus 25.7 rebounds? (Wilt in the 1962 season when blocked shot statistics were not kept). We will never accurately know how many shots Wilt blocked. Oh, by the way in 1967 and 68, Wilt was a league leader in assists. Did MJ ever score 100 points in a game? How many times did MJ score more than 60 points in a game? MJ led the league in scoring in consecutive seasons for 10 years but he did this in an NBA that eventually expanded into 30 teams vs. when Wilt played and there were only 8 teams." It's such an interesting subject, & there are no definitive answers. In the late 50's & early 60's when I came up, Wilt the Stilt was a legend. But little by little, as Boston won year after year, the word was that Bill Russell was the better player because he played defense & was unselfish--& the Celtics won championships. And it's true that Wilt had a few weird ways, like his underhanded free throw shot, which never gave him high percentages. Later on, there was that period, after that legendary 100 point game, where he'd hardly take any shots at all to prove a point (that he wasn't a one dimensional selfish player). It shows, I think, that he was a complicated guy with a lot on his mind. Now, in retrospect, I think we see more clearly what a simply amazing athlete & physical specimen he was. I really appreciate these deep, historic dives--even to back in the day when as a kid & fan & player growing up, our heroes were Cousey, Bill Russell, Wilt, Oscar Robertson, Bob Petit & a few others. Thanks for not forgetting that earlier generation of stars (even if they were also firemen, plumbers & construction workers). They're definitely worth remembering, & celebrating!

Many fans, when comparing players, cite the number of championships he won. That is an accomplishment of the team-the franchise…not an individual. Ty Cobb, for instance played in only three World Series, but his Tigers lost every one, While Lonnie Smith has four Series rings. And Ted Williams has NO rings. Oscar Robertson has ONE. Team Championships attest to the organization, not the individual. NOBODY could stop Wilt. The game was changed in ways that would hold him back, whereas the game changed later to PROMOTE certain players and their styles. Think of a one-on-one competition between Wilt and any other player in NBA history… We have to stop comparing players to franchises.
