You missed: Damian Lillard wears number 0 because it’s a symbol of the letter o, because he grew up in Oakland, Went to college in Ogden, and got drafted by the state of Oregon.
I love this kind of insights. Thanks NBA. Can you do a part 2 and part 3 if possible. I want more players! Lavine being scared of his muscular teammate cracked me up.
I love hearing stories about why athletes from any sport wear their numbers. So many people have such unique numbers or great stories. I wanna hear about more players
One the more special ones is omri casspi's 18. In Hebrew if you convert 18 to Hebrew letters you get ח"י, which means alive. In the Hebrew tradition this Number and this word have a very high importance, and used to wish health and longevity. For example when you give someone a check for their bar-mitzva/wedding/birthday it will be a multiplication of 18 (90/180/360) shekels for example
@@alo.5141 you’re right. And when the Magic drafted Shaquille O’Neal in 1992, they gave the jersey, but it had the number 33. Then they gave it up and made Shaq wear 32.
Even though nobody asked, I will give my own personal story with my number (if you actually read this thank you) I used to wear number 38 because that was my dad's number when he played football in high school, and because my favorite NFL player has always been Tramon Williams, who wore number 38 when he was with the Green Bay Packers. I ended up switching to number 19 because my ma was born in september and my dad was born in october, and 9+10=19. I also wear it because half of me (genetically) is from my dad, and 38/2=19.
