Most players and coaches thought that 3 pt shots were worse shots than mid range shots (except foot on the 3 pt line twos) because they were shot from 22+ feet out. However, mid range shots also keep defenders honest instead of only defending the 3 point arc or the paint. Nearly every star perimeter player from the 2000s had an elite mid range game, even solid guys like Rip Hamilton and Sam Cassell had one.
