Thank you so much for posting these. I think these NBC Updates and Digests are SO valuable...especially the ones with Jessica Savitch, who NBC would simply like to obliterate from their archives. Thank you again. I love it.
I am a 68 year old woman who remembers having to fight to wear "trowsers" to work. AND it had to be a suit. Those were NOT the good ol' days. Young women now should be thanking us.
That image of Linda is exactly what she fought against. And age hasn't changed Linda for the worse. She's gotten better. A Linda without a few age lines (just like mine) would not be a Linda.
Linda Ellerbee wore what the network told her to wear on camera. What she wore in off time is her busness. By the way, do you wear a suit while baking cakes and cookies:
Aeo - Thanks for the comment. Linda is one person who seems to have never grown up (maybe mature - well sure)> I began staying up watching TV when Linda and her cohort were on Overnight. Gave me an excuse to stay up late. I've read all her books (One of which makes me want to go to Greece. But the first one "And so It Goes" is my favorite. Again, thank you.
Continued from above. she now has a children's show in which she asks pretty probing questios (adults take notice) and received some very mature answers. I only wish she were back on the air on Overnight. That'd give me a real reason to stay up late. "And So I Goes"
Yep, and she's proud of it. She lost her hair durng a but with cancer, but eems to bedoing well. (I sound like I know her. I don't, but I would sure like to.)
Linda is such a good announcer that they picked her clothes, didn't call her fat, didn't make remarks about her looks. Maybe you should read a couple of her books., the first is "And so It Gos" , her closing for her ovenight show. Give the woman a break.
I don't know what the hell the comments on her looks are all about. She has been fighting against that image consciousness ever since she came onto the scene. I just wonder if she was wearing shorts or jeans under the desk. I know they picked out her wardrobe for her for a time. All I can say is, Good for you, Linda!!
Many times in this day and age, women don't have the time to pick out their close, take time to "paint" their faces. Pleae don't pick at us until you have the time to do so. Oh yes and there's hair coloring, etc. She fought against the rules of the time that women had to look 100 pounds, completly non-porous skin. That doesn't come from soap and water.
Lionda's hairstyle and clothes? My God does the government get "credit" for everything? Shouldn'a said that. By the way, I'm a liberal too, so don't get too snippy with me.
