Great video - I really enjoyed it. I agree that all 11 of your 10 top picks are wonderful places to see. May I just put in a few additional "must sees" from the area where I live - Caithness. Whaligoe Steps at Ulbster; Duncansby Stacks near John O'Groats; Camster Cairns (and all the other neolithic sites) and the coastal footpath heading south from the Castle of Old Wick. All are magical places and well worth a visit.
I've watched all your nc500 videos robbie there a great help. Just finishing planning my whole trip, me and my best mate using a lil clio and some tents for 11 days cant wait !
Great vid. We did the NC500 in May 2022 on our motorbikes absolutely loved it. We rode Applecross pass with about 10ft of visibility. The highlight though was Achmelvich beach where I proposed to my now future wife 😊
Just back from completing the trip using Robbie’s book and you tube as our guide. He’s bang on with his suggestions, we ran out of superlatives within the first few days
Just bought your Nc500 book and map can't wait leaving Sunday really hope Royal Mail get it to me by then. Loved your video looking forward to visiting as many places as we can
Loved it Robbie, taking all of May next year with my dog to tour Scotland, and, you have just made it so much easier. Thank you very much. Best wishes, Shaun.
Just done the NC on my scooter, magnificent scenery, particularly on the West Coast, no mention of Smoo Cave (near Durness) or the Whaligoe Steps ( 8miles south of Wick) nor Dunnet head ( most northernly point of Scotland, 10miles from John o Groats)..Beautiful scenery if you get the weather, great video showing great places 👌
Did the route in 2010 it was great because it was empty of traffic and wasn’t known then as the north west 500 it’s sadly busy now but still a great route
@@robbieroams You're welcome! haha Dutchy's... they are everywhere. Not sure I'm proud of our drinking reputation, but than again, nothing wrong with a few drinks in good company.
I did the NC500 last year with two ex-friends and because of them, I have some lovely pictures of wall paper, yep they managed to turn the NC500 to the great chase 500, I’m planning to re-do this again but on my own properly
Done this pass at the start of the year on a 125cc motorbike 🤦🏼♂️😂 it was so slow going up I had ample time to take in every inch of the mountains, maybe worth doing a video on places to stop over on the nc500
Great video abd agree with includion of my favourite spot on the West Coast of Scotland - Torridon. The drive down the north side of the loch is fab. It is also worth getting out and walking up into the mountains - there is a scenic path that takes you around Ben Alligin.
Kylesku is a single word with the 'e' being silent, we don't have 'locks' in Scotland they are Lochs. Great video I've did the route many times. Well done with the book. I have subscribed.
i drove through torridon few days ago and saw the deer at the car park, biggest regret ever is i didnt stop and carried on, i wasnt even in a rush or anything. regret is killing me
Hello mate. Very good video and I’m chuffed you picked the waterfall as your number 1 place as that’s where I’m hoping to visit as a much see place while staying near Applecross in October. I take it it will be a bit of a drive but will be so worth it. Also hoping to get to some other places you’ve mentioned in other vids. Great stuff mate. If I order a book would it come before October ?? Thanks again
Your book arrived last week and I'm already impressed with the information enclosed. planning my trip for the NC500, thank you for creating such a fantastic book. Any advice/tips for a late September trip.
Thanks a lot I'm so glad you're impressed with it! I actually think late September is the perfect time to go - less busy, still a chance of good weather and the Autumnal colour will just be about to kick in. Tips wise, if you're camping - check to see when sites close for the winter - same for any attractions and restaurants. Other than that the book gives you everything else I think you'll need! Thanks again :D
@@robbieroams How can you miss out either Oldshoremore beach clachtoll bay or SANDWOOD BEACH a absolutely STUNNING BEAUTIFUL BAY???.🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
Great video, I'm doing part of the coastal 250 Balmoral castle, wiskey distillery and Drakulas Castle in Cruden Bay, on one of my days this video has literally massively helped me. I'll be staying in Meigle and I wanted to see the Lochness, having looked at the map of all the locations featured, we are going to visit Golspie Burn water Falls 1st then lochness on the way back to Meigle. I'm a massive petrol head are there any epic roads or passes on the way back???? We are driving up from Brighton to Meigle and staying there for 4 days.
I’m yet to have a child so it’s a difficult one to answer 😂 Having a hotel/ Airbnb will give you more room at the evenings but you’ll also have to cart all the baby stuff in and out of the vehicle every night so it’s pros and cons really. Both are great options.
Hi guys. We have booked a motor home hire from a company in Loch Ness. We only have a week and are looking for a hopeful mini version bevause I know we couldn’t do the whole 500 in a week. Can you help
You can do the whole route in a week! 5 days is the minimum I recommend 😃 you’ll be able to see most places too 👍 Have you checked out the itineraries on my website?
Just purchased a 2022 roller team motorhome which we will be handed over to us at the end of the month. As it’s 7.45 metres long I think it will not be suitable for us to travel these routes which is a real shame.
Some of your pronouncing was "interesting" ha ha. Kylesku is Kyle-sku rather than Kyle-esku. The others...well it is normal for "Southern people to copy what they hear on the "Media" ha ha. Interesting video reminding me what I miss. Time I returned to the Highlands ha ha.
Hi robbie, i am planning to take the nc500 next year in july. But I'm a little worried about the crowd of campers on the track. Can you recommend the nc500 in summer?
