Hi Everybody!
First things first THANK YOU ALL so much for your patience with the Scotland Vlogs!
I really really appreciate it. Please remember vlogging isn't my full time job and I have hours upon hours of footage to go through and edit so it does take a while!
Anyway, now my excuses are out the way!! Here is day one of our Scotland Trip - From Manchester to Gairloch.
I hope you enjoy the scenery as much as we did!
Looking forward to getting part 2 uploaded :)
Thanks!

Nice vlog. Yes it’s great up here in Scotland, “living the dream” but winters are s#*te. We do have the best biking roads in the UK. Getting my first GSA at 71 years of age this week, better late than never. Ride safe and hope you return to Scotland.

Thanks for the vid, and nice to see some familiar roads again! The whole "NC500" thing makes me smile as these are all roads I learned to ride and drive on and then finesse my riding and driving skills on for many years... no fancy name or branding back then! Been living overseas for 20 years so, nice to see them again as there are some fantastic riding/driving roads there (when not overrun by motorhomes driven by people that haven't got a clue!). Hope you enjoyed it!!

I have to agree. Me and a couple of guys did it back in 1999. It did not have a name then and the roads were quiet, hardly another soul about. The RT1100 loved it also. Would love to ride it again, but no bike now, been laid up for 11 weeks, with a broken foot and the wife says no more riding. So at 72 I have hung up my gear, to save her worrying. Glad you enjoyed the trip Kate, just a shame you went the wrong way getting up to Fort William. Next time ignore the M6 and round Glasgow. I'll give you the route when you do it again.

Recorded like we are riding with you and Mike. The scenery was amazing! It was worth the wait and time you spent on editing. Go Pro's have a mule type mind of their own! Your commentary is the the best when you're riding Kate, few have that talent. Others sound like they are stuck in a sound track loop and very boring.

I fear I’d get speeding tickets in Scotland. Great upload Kate, loved every minute of it.
@RichO1701e
@RichO1701e 2 года назад
There's hardly any speed cameras on the west side of Scotland. The A9 from Perth to Inverness is a massive pain with REAR facing, average speed cameras so even bikers can't speed. Other than that, you'd be hard pressed to get caught by a speed camera, maybe a mobile policing unit.
@SWR112
@SWR112 2 года назад
@@qtronicqilt8898 Nope we had a really bad few weeks a year or so ago, one weekend alone had like seven fatalities bikers and a car smash and and while everyone was say that last few weeks have been shocking for loss of life there was a family killed on the Malaig road. Police Scotland absolutely hammered it for about three months multiple Vans. But if your driving or riding at the weekend your going to see a few vans or motorcycle cops with speed guns. Speed cameras or traps were unheard once you got a bit north of FW and especially nothing from Ullapool to Durness. It was a kind of handshake agreement you behave and we will let this road be enjoyed but don’t be silly on it. But popularity and the NC500 route being made recognised tourist route has changed that. You no have a speed van on that section at various points most weeks to Durness. Not blaming anyone or anything but the Scottish government got on its high horse after the five or six weeks of what seemed carnage to reign in behaviour on the roads.

Love the blog. Very interesting and informative. The road on the bank of Loch Lomond is wonderful, I have travelled it many times. The bridge you mention is a new section of the road when the original road suffered subsidence and fell into the Loch a few years ago. Now much safer as the old bends were narrow and dangerous. Keep up the good work👍

Excellent video Kate, it brought back many great memories of my time spent around Glen Coe on my mountaineering course in the army way back in the 1990's, I noticed that Jimmy Savilles bungalow is still standing, thought it would have been burnt to the ground by now. If you and Mike get the chance to spend some tinge around Glen coe you have to walk to the hidden valley, as you route up to the three sisters the valley is between the first and second sisters as you approach from the south, it's a truly magical place.

Hi princess UNK... Thanks I really enjoy that wow Mike dosent hang around does he 😂... Your right Scotland is beautiful I went upto Fort William and around Loch Ness in the mid 1970s on my trusty 1957 triumph speed twin with my mate Ernest as pillion we camped out the bike ran well but used copious amounts of oil... No surprise there then.... The only glitch we had was the rear tyre went flat at a village called Comrie in the Highlands the valve had actually parted from the rubber inner tube and we didn't have a spare inner tube... So we called at a very posh house and they let us use the phone to call the AA (no mobiles lol) while waiting for the AA to arrive we where treated to tea and scones in the garden by the wonderful elderly couple sat outside on a baking hot July day absolute bliss... The AA managed to source a new inner tube and fitted it and we where on our way great memories... My mate kept complaining about his sore backside as the bike had a solid back end no suspension... It should have had rear wheel with a sprung hub like a huge clock spring but it just had a normal wheel fitted so any geezer riding pillion really felt the bumps.. Great memories.... Unk who looks after UNK 🐱🐱 while you go on your jaunts??? ❤️❤️

Great video (again). Ridden those roads many times, usually stayed in Lochcarron which is absolutely gorgeous. Did stay at the Gairloch Hotel once several years ago, things must have changed since I was there because it was awful! Riders and drivers up here are usually pretty friendly unless they’re behind a motor home. Then things go downhill quite quickly! Loving the sound of that GS, makes me wish I’d kept mine! Next trade in… Looking forward to day 2.

I love this video and can't wait to take my new-to-me F900XR up to Scotland next year for a tour on those roads, I tested it and a R1250RS with the full Akra and the little (PAH!!! little! it's a 105bhp 900cc machine) XR was just so much fun. Shame about the vinyl covered plank they call a seat but I know a guy for sorting that. Roll on Wednesday. Some say, that if you put a circular polarising filter on the helmet cam and set it correctly it will eliminate any glare from the sun, but if you set it incorrectly, it will blank out the whole dash without the use of black tape...

Sunny day in Scotland, crunching the miles and drinking in the scenery; what’s not to like? Surprised you didn’t make a stop at the commando memorial. Great day though. Ride safe.

Wow! You got the weather for it! A group of us rode the nc500 in one day in fancy dress last month to raise money for a local charity up here in the highlands, but the weather was thick fog for most of it. Was pretty brutal! >.

Not to dampen your memories of your trip, but if you look up the Glen Coe massacre, it’s quite a story. Scottish history tours on RU-vid has a great video on it. Great video

Thanks Kate Mike. Ridden those roads a few times but some years ago now so I need to get back up there soon. Just traded my 1200GS for a HD Pan America Special and now questioning whether I should have listening to the sound of your bikes. Worth trying one Kate. Stay safe you two. Ted.
