ok so I’m going to be a sophomore next year and my freshmen season was incredibly good. I do long and triple jump, sometimes run the 200 and I’m on the 4x1 relay that recently beat the school record. Like u said about trying new things out, I tried triple jump out for the first time in my life this year and went all division but was short like 1/4 of an inch for counties. After that I suffered from pretty bad shin splints so I didn’t move onto states. Coaches from other schools were said to be watching me because I was a freshmen u know jumping similar distances to juniors and seniors. So my goals for next year is to become way more serious about track and it’s training/workouts and focus on mainly jumping, relays and maybe personal races. Obviously the NCAA wasn’t an initial thought of mine but what tips would u give??? (also sorry for such a long paragraph😬)
oh my gosh!! you sound like you're super serious already. it definitely seems like you need to use this summer or even Christmas break to let your body recover. you're doing jumps + sprinting which can be a lot on your body. it's so good you're a freshman getting those marks, get itttttt!!! coaches will definitely understand if your body gets tired just remember you have to keep it up until you're a senior, so don't do tooooo much. if I were you I'd focus on triple jump + 4x100 just so you can work on speed and your jumps at the same time. also work on communicating with your athletic trainer + coach on how your body feels!
