Okay, it seems like this needs to be addressed every year to the "RU-vid experts" that think they're now audio professionals since they took a few classes here and there. First, the BGMM uses high quality mics that costs $1,200 a piece. They capture the full frequency range of sounds without distortion, and the audio recorder has quality preamps that prevent clipping. The fact that anyone would try to compare the sound of those mics to the mics on a cell phone camera or basic video camera is idiotic, but I'll play along. Next, the media team uses a multi-point array, where several mics are raised about 20 feet in the air and spread across the length of the field. This presents the listener with a soundstage that equates to each band member playing directly toward the single listener, which is what you want in a recording so that you can hear every part. So obviously, the sound you get on the recording will not resemble the sound you get from a vantage point that's off-axis or at a distance and with a cheap mic. Third, no audio "tricks" are used; the sound you get is the most accurate representation of what the live listener would be hearing in terms of stereo/surround balance, frequency response, and quality. It's just that most people are so used to hearing low quality, distorted audio clips that they think that that is how a band is supposed to sound on video. Finally, the production process cannot change missed notes, intonation issues, and other flaws in the actual playing done by the musicians. Anyone with actual audio recording experience would know that quality in equals quality out, in addition to the opposite. The BGMM media team has led the way in the production of HBCU band videos, and I understand that many people not in the know like to present an argument from ignorance. They can't seem to figure it out, so they resort to these conspiracy theories. The post-production process is actually relatively simple, and if you actually took the time to acquire real knowledge in this field, then you would see that these convoluted ideas you're conjuring up really don't make any practical sense....
A lot of it probably comes from old heads like me that used to watch band videos on copied VHS tapes back in the day. They don't realize that those tapes are godawful and this is how a properly miced band sounds. Great work media team!
Love this band. The amount of hard work makes for a spectacular show with great sound and precision. I think the former large flexible yellow plums and yellow hat tops were more prominent. Overall I appreciate the BGMM's effort to improve and impress by obtaining new uniforms and equipment. Aggie Pride!
I thought this was an amazing performance!!! DM held his own without the other two.... But I bet he felt lonely up they're...lol - as always Golden Delight is slept on... Those girls do it all!!!
I think they did a beautiful show stop down talking the kids they only kids you need to start lifting all of them up they are very talented kids all bands
A lot of schools are getting or have got new uniforms but to me these are one of the dopest. I like the fade and blend of colors on the chest. As far as the show goes NCAT always put on damn good show....SWAC luv !! #THEEILOVE
Great Job BGMM... My live experience was Awesome... The sound is just as great watching it live as watching on video... I understand where the quality of sound comes from(got that music back ground). could not wait too see for myself sitting in the stands... and yall did Great!!... Those mics are grabbing every sound possible on that field... bet not talk too loud it will grab you too...lol Awesome job media team!!! The 2 shows so far are the BOMB!!!!
Not too sure about the "New Swag" just yet! The uniforms are nice but I just think it took away from T's distinct look as the MACHINE! They do look like a low budget southern here! Maybe if the capes were shorter and they had the GOLD plumes back I'd be more for the new look!
Exactly. I hate when someone from southern comments on a video of another band. They aren't the best. I can pick apart that band. But still trying to uphold a band that doesn't want to be your standard.
Nothing about this uniform screams SU. People are reaching. But that's what consistency, hard work, and greatness attracts....haters! Now they will nit pick video quality because they're grasping for straws!
They just got hella kudos for playing sounds of blackness optimistic! The entire show was great! Bands don't play this kind of music or have this kind of display of musicianship anymore! Great job Aggies!
Great job and looking abs sounding good Aggies! I don't see how y'all can be mad that their administration invests in this band whole heartedly . It could be worse , like all of our once great bands in Georgia are down 0 to none because of greedy administration stealing money ,loss in funding , no money for scholarships , numbers dwindling to the lows . Bands like Clark , Morris brown , morehouse , Albany were once flourishing HBCU bands from Georgia. This is happening not just in Georgia but a lot of HBCUs and black music programs .
Very Good Sound... and you guys has a great sound and did a wonderful job on "Love Under New Management." I know Mikki Howard would be proud that you guys did a great job with her song...
looking good 'T.. dig the the full and balanced sound. best improvement is having one DM instead of a squad of DMs. Always felt like you can do more with less when it comes to DMs
Btw I don't see how this looks like SU uniforms... it's a couple of schools that have used that uniform style before plus SU has a more military esc look to their style...
Golden delight has to clean up their movements.. I think that sometimes using props and theatrics is a way to cover up the lack of level of difficulty and precision..
This was great. New uniforms are very nice. I like the fade from gold to blue. Not a big fan of the plooms or feathers on the hats tho, but I'm sure it grow on me with time. DMs, I like their uniforms, but I like the blue hats better.
Wave Man Mike I thought I was the only one! You would expect for something new to be better, but in this case, you can through that theory in the garbage.
There is no magic when processing audio. From what i am reading in the comments alot of yall need to study up on EQing, multiband compression, stereo imaging, harmonic enhancements just to name a few along with proper mic placement and pre-amps. These techniques bring you sound as it is intended to be heard not how you are used to hearing it.
Please calibrate your cameras the same way. Your aperture, white balance, and focus all has has issues... most of your shots look hot and are not in focus..
Them uniforms trash and the capes to long it look like SU uniform gone wrong, but I will say good job to the band Directors for putting A&T back on the map again they sound great
THis uniform is actually a Throw back to the original uniform from the 90's. It just looks Cartoonish with the gradual color scheme. wish the overlay was seperate from the jacket so that it could include a belt to make it look more fitted.
Man!!! Wonders how this media team can make these guys sound... Deceptions at its best... Nice show tho Aggies. Not sure about those uniforms yet. Liked the old ones so much better early 2000s....
Dayvon Savage you are acting idiotic sir. You can hear the imperfections loud and clear when they are there. The microphones let you hear how they sound in person. Much better than a phone clip.
Aaron J. Campbell The media team put into place is doing an outstanding job. No pun towards the machine and those kids On the field but in all honesty they don't "sound" like this during a live performance. No band does. This footage has been doctored and made the band sound much fuller and "mistake free". Sort of like a music rehearsal recording. To make a long story short they don't sound like this in "person".
Thats a lie, you can hear the mistakes in the audio here if there are any... And they do sound this clean in person. I would know, because I watched them this show in person.
jmg24bad Idiotic? This is not a bash session young man. My ear is very trained in music as well as cameras and filming equipment therefore I know sounds can be doctored and this is a doctored sound as are Many of this media teams footage. No knock they sound great 👍 But not as good as this footage imposes. Just listen to Richberg entertainments footage. They don't sound the same and that's not to say they don't sound Good sir. In fact it only glorifies the media team.
Why are they marching like a white band. Rickey Smiley jokes about this one time, contrasting white bands from HBCU marching bands. A&T done sold out. Smh...
Larry Hudson, Jr. Please find "ONE CAUCASIAN" band that march like they do.............. When you do, tag me in it or something, because that was just a flat out lie.
