NCIS
Explore the inner workings of the government agency that investigates all crimes involving Navy and Marine Corps personnel, regardless of rank or position. Leading this team is NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, a skilled investigator and interrogator who is smart, tough and willing to bend the rules to get the job done.
Episode 1x7 'Sub Rosa'
A decomposed body is discovered in a tub of acid at a naval base and Ducky and Abby learn that the victim was a submariner. Gibbs discovers that there have been no reports of a sub crewmember missing, so he deduces that one of the subs has an imposter on board. With this new information, the team must find out which sub the man posing as the victim is in and what intentions he may have towards the sub.

McGee is one of my favorite characters. You will see him again but I won't tell you how often. Sean Murray's (McGee) father was an Executive Officer on the USS Enterprise. His stepfather is Donald Bellisario, the producer of NCIS.

One of the reason i think NCIS is more liked than your other Crime procedural shows is because there a lot more focus on the characters. The show has this nice balance between focus on the characters and focus on the case. While other crime shows are mostly focused on the case first and the characters secondary. Its probably also the reason your having a bit more trouble figuring out who done it. Because there's not this hyperfocus on the case, things are a bit less obvious to spot or it means the creators dont have to make it obvious to fill up the time. As they want to have a more character driven crime show.

Yeah this show is soo good at pacing the episodes. They're not too fast, but not too slow, it's difficult to figure them out but they're interesting because they touch on various aspects of the navy without being repetitive, while also being informative for the viewer. Many said about the show "we came for the cases, we stayed for the characters". And it is true. You'll see as the seasons progress how each character is very well written and how their unique personalities and different backgrounds makes the show stand out in this genre. it's fascinating. You can pick up any random episode from any random season and it'll always have the same quality because of the characters and their chemestry. It's such a good show, and I hope we'll continue to enjoy it with you here.

To this day, this is still one of my favourite episodes of all!! Your gasp when McGee finally told Tony what isopropyl methylphosphonofluoridate is was priceless! For future reference: NCIS is really good at explaining what the nerds are saying. Both Gibbs and DiNozzo provide macguffins to that effect, since neither of them have a scientific background, they need to be explained a lot, which is to the advantage of the viewer. Btw, do keep an eye out for future McGee appearances in later episodes, I think you're going to love what they have in store for the character...

Ice cream on naval ships has an incredible history. To this day its the first thing they load during resupply. Even though its stable to be loaded much later. The Fat Electrician made a video, the ice cream ships of WW2.

Women on Naval vessels is a serious problem in the Navy. Reguardless of training. Men and women in confined places will hook up. This plays havok with mission and disapline. Every year, multiple women have to be airvacced off of ships and subs at sea. This is very expensive and dangerous to the crew involved and the woman and her unborn child. Nevermind that very few women are strong enough to competently perform many of the jobs required in the military. This isn't about intellect or skill. It is about brute strength and endurance. There are plenty of positions in the military where women can add to the mission. Side by side men in the field or on ship, isn't one of them. The risk to disapline, moral, and life and limb is too great.

5:24 - where did you get "arrogant misogyny"? From the remark that "women are in inconvenience on a submarine"? It happened to be true. There is a great saying: "Facts don't care about your feelings." If something is true - it's true, no matter how bad it makes you feel. Now, if the statement "women are inconvenience...." was a lie, then "arrogant misogyny" could be applicable.
