@Seal Young he was head hunted a talent..hence a talent...i met fresh graduates from...3 tier universities here looking for jobs..any jobs...beautiful young girls..are they foreign talent..yet they were given 3 months renewable Visa to do so....what is the criteria for talent ???
@Seal Young yes we do accept FT..here...is it the same..when fresh graduates from 3tier Universities come and compete with our young graduates...for jobs ??? FT are people..highly paid because they can offer values worth their cost...which talent..will come here to do a $2500 jobs or $4500 jobs ???
It is never fair, they used data collected to manipulate the economy than actually helping us. It's about making money for themselves than for the people.
Kudos to Mr Leong's courage and convictions to speak out for Singaporeans against the onslaught of self-serving politicians! Well-done Mr Leong, you speak our mind! Too be labeled a "Foreign talent" one must at least be earning above $500k annually according to Emeritis Minister Goh Chok Tong !👏👏👏
@Seal Young haha..cfm you are shameless PAP IB. If PAP is doing right for people' s interests ie not selling us out for Damn CECA, they wont need shameless shills like you to cover their wrong doings.
@Seal Young hello, the garbagement will deny the CECA issue la. Wake up little shill. Your family in future ll be ruled by CECA if u keep shilling shamelessly away yr LKY hard fought future.
I cant say more .you are the best opposition in Singapore history .You manage to neutralise all the Ministers coment single handedly. In this Parliament sitting. And there is one can still call him illitrade Thk you Mr Leong Mun Wai for your courage to outdo the PAP minister.
My utmost respect and admiration to Mr LMW. He is a true patriot of Singapore. We really need more LMW in parliament. Everything he said was on point and spot on.
PSP had researched well and the 20 years under PAP have indeed displaced many Singaporeans PMETs jobs to foreigners including myself. Singapore have lost its Singaporean Core in many industries! If we do not make the change now, our children and their children’s future will be very bleak, becoming a second class citizen in our own country! Thank you Mr Leong and PSP. Keep up your good work. Singaporeans need a proper representation with sincerity and empathy. We have to bring in more people like you into parliament.
Wonder the government in all honesty give our original citizens the statistic as to up to date how many foreigners are brought in by nationalities and how many have gained citizenships. Then we can see the true picture. Hope the government will take up this challenge. I full agreed with PSP Mr Leong Mun Wai.
They kept & used the data to manipulate us and made themselves rich and powerful. Their stand - for the party, for the foreigners, for the profits!!! They loved their neighbour's kids but not their own!! Is it a new trend? Or it's their mistress' kids?
Mr Leong, you are a real literate man. Not like those who called themselves scholar but do not even have the basic virtue to understand that dissing people with condescending remarks like ‘you are illiterate’ behind people’s back is most contemptible, childish and coward.
Fortunately you are NOT from ACS...and you are NOT discriminating , discrediting and insulting! From this video, it is proven you are literate! One thing for sure, you have a big heart...but unfortunately, your fellow Singaporean is not.
One PSP's NMP put up superior quality debates vs the whole cabinet plus more than 80 MPs. MOM should have a data base of SG whole work force with details of skills and qualifications, employment status in order to make rational decision making on the approval of EP and SP. Quota way of decision making is misguided which can displaced Singaporean unintentionally. Hope our leaders in charge should try not to defend their policies with rhetoric that make Singaporean feel second class to foreign EP and SP.
Mr Leong speaks in a sincere and empathetic way. He is truly concerned about fellow Singaporeans and has laid out concrete steps on what needs to be done. It is sadly our Singaporeans' loss that such a talented human being was not voted into Parliament as an MP. Thank you Mr Leong, you couldn't have said it any better for us!
The opposition credibility is rising with this cohort of opposition MP. I certainly look towards greater representation of non-PAP Member of Parliament in the near future!
This is a talent who should be there to speak up for Sporeans, but they have been deliberately kicked out for obvious reasons. Who audit the process? Yes, who?
Thank you & Well Done Brother Leong You had done good research on your presentation, representing the whole of Singaporean who had lost our daily rice bowl affecting our Singaporean families hence 20years ago up till present including myself. Many of us are shy and felt shameful and does not speak out the difficulties we are facing daily. With regards to your comments Singaporean learn new skills going through short courses to me is BULLSHITS. Can PAP guarantee after having attended the PAP will make sure we get the job Answer Absolutely NO. Take me as an example I am 62 years old completed my degree in MDIS Leed Beckett with upper second class and up till now I cold not even find a HSE No Job. SKILLS should be given to Singaporean first priority as we work we master new skills daily not by attending short course without pratical hands-on skills Singaporean will never learn. So why not give SINGAPOREAN A CHANCE CHEERS PSP Thank you Brother Leong ❤🙏
Mr Leong Mun Wai ,we are so grateful to have you to voice out for the voiceless. Many many families have suffered n have given up hope because the harm is DONE n cannot be undone. Change is the only solution.Thank you for trying so hard to get your point through. You are a very intelligent, honest ,reliable, trustworthy n honest man.
At 10:56, suugestion to change course. Unfortunately, a lot of foreigners already citizens. At 27:53, ask for transparency. This is also important for how gov addresses covid Just finished listening. Very good speech, content wise 👏🏻👏🏻salute
Since day one, the objective of CECA was not one of economic but rather political. PAP knows that they are losing popularity and support from the home-grown Singaporeans, due to their continuous mistakes and heavy losses. So, in order to keep the votes up, they need to bring in the Indians and grant them PRs and citizenships, so that they can vote for them in the coming elections. These Indians feel that they need to keep PAP in power, for fear that should any opposition come in, they will kick them back to India.
therefore....who is the culprit behind that caused all these growing racist attitude, discriminating and bias towards non Singaporeans? I think we all know.
@Niko Lodeon This shows that u are totally unfamiliar with the way PAP fit these Indian immigrants into the various constituencies. Do some homework and then u will see how a small percentage can do a lot of damage.
@Niko Lodeon Ah... Now u are playing the racist game. Since when did I say Chinese is superior ? Don't forget that Spore is a multi-racial country and we all grow up with different races as neighbors and childhood friends. By saying this, I can see that u are a foreigner who knows nothing about the culture in Spore. So, please shut it.
If what he said is true, hope that more other MPs may stand up to protect the citizens. Are they not in government to improve our lives, protect our livelihood? Why protect others against your own citizens. Are not jobs our livelihood? Yesterday I read about the passing of Mat Nor and many sharing about the time how the football game and matches united the people. We were cheering together for the country. Do You think today with the many many new citizens, will they unite with us to cheer for the country?
I think he’s not saying about going against the foreign talents talent. Top top talents are in need everywhere. Here I think referring to about jobs that can be done by the talented citizens and their jobs, their livelihood given to foreigners. When I read this kind of things, if it’s true, I feel sad. We all small people needs the government, the policy , those in authority and the leadership protection and help for a reasonable good lives. without the imported so named talent, our local talents already competing among themselves and rightly so, right? But for these jobs to be taken or given to others instead of our own citizens. Do you think this is right? When one citizen loses the job, of course not only his livelihood suffered, all his families affected and suffered along, the parents the children etc. Don’t you want our MPs to stand up for us, n in this matter fighting n preventing our jobs to be given away, esp those that Singaporean are qualified to do.
Where got wrong being a foreign talent? I believe even today many of our citizen talents are overseas. I think our leaders would also encouraged them to go get trained and experience which may be good for the country. Here the issue is about so called foreign talents taken over jobs that can be well performed by our citizens. Got one time I talked to a 20 something grab driver. I said to the poly graduate, who used to work in the IT., young man go get a proper job make use of what you learned . He thot he gonna try out for one or two months only and go back to IT. He said he had sent many resumes, only one company called him but no interview arranged. Wasted local talent. What’s the point if the country gets prosperous but the prosperity and benefits go to the foreigners inside your country. If this true, do you think this is right? I only can wonder How one feel when you are a minority in your work place in Singapore. One way may help for help to be fair to our citizens is to have the personal manager or the hiring Dept to be managed by Singaporean. Is it right to do such thing , I don’t know. Don’t you think it’s right that if a job requirements can be met by our citizens, the priority to be given to the Singaporean.
@@markfish1113 Thats why i say, even if WP lose all seats, get kidnapped by UFO, i wont give a damn cos even if WP continues to exist in parliament, they will only DELAY THE OPPOSITION MOVEMENT. Some even suspect its Team B. The peeps should have confident that given how shitty lives been thanks to covid and the rising cost of living , i expect even more expensive in and from 2022, the significant loss of wealth to many, even more now need Opposition in parliament. So even if the Inert WP is gone, the peeps will Lan Lan boh bian vote in the next best thing. Would anyone want zero opposition in parliament? Now its not the rosey 1990's anymore you know?
@@malita354 As WP know they won by swing voters, so try hard to be like PAP to not stir bad feelings. I am sure PAP had brainstormed the ideal way for SG is become like Monaco or Luxembourg, tax-less for the rich and collecting foreign investments in finance industry. The issue is people won't accept when the early left-wing policies like HDB had ingrained people that this is not class society. They enter right-wing policies to side companies to enrich SG after LHL and GCT came in. The policies are left, right, centre, taken from various parliaments. Its sort of Rojak! By allowing economic freedom for companies and labour freedom, the policies benefit foreigners whom come here work in the mindset that they are going back to enjoy their retirement. The ones stuck here permanently are unhappy. They definitely hope they have the mandate to bulldoze policy like 1990s. Still, PAP should communicate better with citizens in more candid way. Some of their policies change is complicated, is after scholarly calculations. They should make the information available easily and explain the benefit of siding with companies and if they want to turn it into Monaco they should say so.
@@markfish1113 CPF is the best example of what is a super complex policy that i doubt any layman can say they fully understand cpf system and policies and rules. You know Frankenstein?
Well done!!!! LKY has accorded these ppl with too good a life, protected high up there on the pedestral.. as government, Party members or balls carriers. Anything else in parliament, they'd beliitle or laugh it off!! What arrogance!
Without complete data, it is very difficult to find the loop hole and issues as a result of CECA. But yet Mr Leong has done a good job to challenge the Government. Well done!
May I ask, from 6.25min onwards, can you share the source of 600K PRs given to work pass holders, 400K U & Poly grads from 2005-2020? Also, based on your claim that the numbers cannot reconcile, may I know if you have considered number of Pmets retired yearly or left their jobs, of the 600K PRs that not all are Pmets, and that Pmets jobs grew by 380K is not the total Pmet jobs available (1.7 million Pmet jobs in 2019)? Do you think if these are considered, the numbers should reconcile? Appreciate your views, thanks!
Don't think those numbers are disputed, he can't lie in parliament. He must have took from govt website. Many work pass holders come a few years and leave, so its hard to tally the numbers unless govt release more detailed ones. Convert PRs are mostly PMET in first place, if include their families i think much higher than 600k. Sg population went up 1.4M in this time frame and locals not really making babies.

From the about 10hr debate or session, i feel that 1. Some use a Laughable tactic to debate by alluding that questioning CECA means one is against ALL FTA. 2. Some are so Laughable, they say questioning CECA means Xenophobic and Racist. Wise people around the world can discern what's Laughable with such thinking. So disgracing. Every FTA is with foreign country. So no FTA is questionable without the questioner being labeled Xenophobic? The Singapore education system is Laughable or not? Yew tell me! Is there Wisdom from their behavior? I don't dare to refer to Bala insults
LMW is an excellent example of learning new skills. From a maiden speaker to a Great Orator in parliament. Mr. Leong, how you achieve this skills huh? Did our late Mr. Lee came to teach you in your sleep? Hahaha💪💪💪🤝🤝🤛👊👏👏👏
It may seem so, but he actually explained that his point is about management and developing your own people, as other countries have done, to ensure that no sector would become overly dependent on foreign talents
@@tkyap2524 Indeed, this small country was built in the days when our 1G was judicious in developing our own people as PMETs complemented by FTs who brought real expertise from which we learnt, so 1G showed how it could and should be done
Leong was a FT in a difficult country like Japan where they close doors to immigration. Japan top uni offered him scholarship. Circumstances are different.
If Singaporeans are not as competent as foreigners, then there is something wrong with the education system. I think the employers should certainly be more responsible to offer Singaporeans the chance instead of taking the easy way out. A lot of these supposedly foreign talents come from countries that have less developed companies and industries than singapore. These are not talents but low cost foreign substitutes. Look at the United States that took in a lot of foreigners, some of them are very high quality foreigners. This has resulted in a lot of the locally born Americans are struggling to make ends meet. Look at the number of street dwellers in high technology California. I am surprised to see a lot of highly educated Grab drivers who say they cannot find a job. If not for the HDB program, it will not be surprised to see Singapore follow the path of California. I think the government really has to rethink about CECA. Attract the foreigners that can really help create and build SMEs. There are many of these foreign talents in China. These foreign entrepreneurs can make use of Singapore’s international openness and reputations while also be able to address a very big home market in China. CECA will not enhance Singapore’s future. It will only depress the fighting spirit of well educated Singaporeans.
@Niko Lodeon I am a very successful Singaporean and not a China Chinese. I am giving my opinion on how Singapore can progress. I have been CEO of three American multinationals in Asia and have seen Asia grow and not narrow minded like you. I think you are one of those low esteem foreigners that are here to deprive more capable Singaporeans of an opportunity. So get out and go back to where you were from instead of polluting Singapore. I have managed 100s of very good Singapore engineers who are very dedicated unlike you foreigners born only with gift of two gaps.
@Niko Lodeon if you want to talk, please do not belittle others. You are right that most of Chinese won’t leave China. But China has a lot of good schools and there are more talents than the country needs. There will be overflow to countries that welcome them, especially with all the US sanctions of China technology companies. They can still use Singapore as a platform to the international market and Singapore is the best choice. This is best opportunity for Singapore to attract good Chinese entrepreneurs to curate employment opportunities for all. I have been managing Asia Pacific area for almost 40 years and I know where the talents are. While India do have smart people, the best of the Indians will go to United States. PLEASE DO NOT RIDICULE OTHERS. I am not complaining about foreigners coming to Singapore. I was also not born in Singapore but became Singaporean being educated in Singapore. I feel that the Singapore government ministers are not experienced to deal with foreign talents and refuse to listen.
It's pointless to keep retraining when Singaporeans are not given the job. Bottom line is - why our government is feeding the neighbourhood kids than feeding their own kids? Are we citizens or 2nd class citizens? Will the government get the foreigners to defend the nation in times of war? The question is, for what should they defend SG? In return, at the end we will have to defend them. When more Singaporeans are jobless, the CPF will have less money. That's why the government needs to increase GST. So both SG and foreigners are paying tax to the government daily.
@Niko Lodeon Even the 9% Indian here are threatened..by the discrimination culture. FOREIGNERS.. brings with them ! NOT JUST INDIAN...SO MANY INSTANCES OF " BRO LOST HIS JOB...I create vacancy to bring him over "POINT IS...WHAT GOVERNMENT ..ALLOW....FOREIGNERS TO COME AND STEAL OUR JOBS..AND CALLING IT INFLUSION OF FOREIGN TALENT ??? WE HV SOME OF THE BEST EDUCATION SYSTEM IN THE WORLD...BECAUSE OF OUR SMALL POPULATION...IT IS EXPECTED THAT THERE WILL BE A REQUIREMENT FOR ADDITIONAL TALENT..FROM OUTSIDE...BUT WHEN ENTRANCE LEVEL..JOBS...ARE GOING TO FRESH GRADUATES FROM 3TH TIER UNIVERSITIES GRADUATES FROM OTHER COUNTRIES WHILE OUR FRESH GRADUATES STRUGGLE TO FIND JOBS ????
1) Why Racial? Singapore is Singaporean. 2) Many Singaporeans are working for foreign companies overseas. 3) NUS & NTU are high grade universities, why no local talents?
Many Singaporean were hired and sent out by MNC to help them expand their co. into the region. We are FT to USA, AP countries and ASEAN. Our Core responsibilities and value is still Singaporean for our families back here in Singapore. We are FT to others countries to promote Singapore as a Hub. We help MNC manage and train the local workforce for the new establishment.
$500.00 skills future can get jobs meh? yah maybe food delivery, store man, taxi driver, property agent, insurance agent, cashier,cleaners...............LOL
$15,000 salary does NOT goes into a discussion or debate with just throwing problems onto the table. PSP should comes with proposal, Facts, data, solutions for discussions. That's is what $15,000 should do. He has all the time to go thru all the policy and rules. Dont go into parliament with a piece of mouth and later try to claim credit for throwing the problems onto the table. A clown can do that.
When EDB bring foreign co. especially MNC to Singapore. Local Singaporean experts was sent as trainers to SEA and AP to transfer Singaporean skills and innovation. We are Singaporean with multi Lang capabilities and skilled to build the real regional relationship and establishment.. Not Singapore Gov. Sad to said. In directly improve Singapore reputation and the regional trust MNC will come to model against us.
Even your old colleagues were saying you were flirting too much on far right racist policies and inciting xenophobia. You may not admit it but the undertones are racist in nature.
