The thing about nct is that they were trained to do everything for example predebut haechan was one of the best rappers and mark was originally a singer
NCT in general dabble into different genres and styles, but 127 especially have tried a little bit of everything. They have the benefit of having big number of members and all of them can sing and rap! (As you go through their discography, you'll definitely notice the rappers sing and the singers rap xD).But having amazing vocalists like Taeil, Doyoung, Haechan, etc AND amazing rappers like Taeyong and Mark is insane. I genuinely enjoy all of 127's discography, which is not quite usual lol
While NCT title tracks tend to be hype, hard-hitting and rap focused, the b-sides have always run the gamut of genres, albeit with a heavy focus on R&B... I find it sad and incredibly frustrating that so many people only ever listen to the title tracks and then write them off as "noise" music, which (imo) is one of the more asinine labels that intellectually lazy kpop stans like to hand out 🙄. In reality, the majority of NCT's discography is wonderfully varied, beautifully melodic, harmony focused and incredibly well-produced. I'd highly recommend doing a deep dive of album listens (for all units), if you want to fully appreciate how good they really are. 💚
The easiest, most simplistic way to explain the NCT unit system is this; The current 23 members are split into *3 FIXED* member units *(NCT 127, NCT Dream & WayV),* meaning the member line-ups typically do not change... and *1 NON-FIXED* member unit *(NCT U),* where the member line-up varies on a per song basis and can include any number and/or combination of the overall 23 members, just depending on who happens to fit that particular concept best. Think of NCT U as the *"mix-n-match"* unit, the U stands for *United.* Could be 2 members on one track, and 9 on the next... we never know who it'll be until the song drops. We normally only see NCT U during special all-member album era's though, of which there has been just 3 so far in the over 7 years they've been active. The next is scheduled for this year, so be on the look out for *NCT 2023.* ☺ As you're already aware, we now have our first fixed sub-unit called *NCT DJJ* , featuring Doyoung, Jaehyun and Jungwoo... but on the immediate horizon, there is also a new Japanese fixed unit that is getting ready to debut, which will hopefully be sometime this year. It will also be the last new member unit that is to be added to the NCT brand, since SM decided to discontinue the limitless expansion concept. There's also a side project called *NCT Lab,* where the members can release digital singles for solo's or unit projects. (side quest... SM has a sorta all-star project group that features some of the labels most popular male artists, called *SuperM.* This includes; Baekhyun & Kai of *EXO,* Taeyong & Mark of *NCT 127,* Ten & Lucas of *WayV* and Taemin of *SHINee.* Best place to start with them is their debut mv, called 'Jopping'.)
Btw touch is when they switched nct 127 and dreams designated concepts for that year It was so dreamies could have a more mature song to represent their growth and change it up for 127
Please listen to their 2 baddies album, I think it’ll show you just how versatile and diverse their sound and abilities are… everyone judges them on songs like 2 baddies and Sticker but little do they know their entire albums are mostly smooth 90’s R&B. Their albums are where the treasure is! I think you’ll love their Limitless EP from 2017 as well! Loved the video btw, keep it up! 😊
