@@azrielgraciosa1926 nct dream was not a fixed unit back then. when a member turns 20 he graduates and is put into another unit. mark graduated 20 before boom, ridin'. but then sm announced that nct dream is a permanent unit now.

Mark graduated at the end of 2018. So in 2019 and 2020, Dream promoted as 6 members and released Boom (2019) and Ridin' (2020). End of 2020, SM announced NCT Dream will abolish the graduation system, put Mark back in the team and they're now promoting as 7 again.

@@belovedkokky1680 Oh cause Dream used to have a graduation system so once they became of legal age (20) they would have to leave the group and could debut in other NCT groups. So since Mark was older than the other members he “graduated” first so then they were just 6 in the group for a while. Then last year more than half of the members turned 20 and I guess with fans urging SM to keep them together, the company decided to make them a fixed unit and brought back Mark.

@@belovedkokky1680 You can see on twt the trending hashtags #DREAMFIXEDUNIT #7DREAM really showed how much 7DREAM meant to NCTzens. It was a fight to keep them together and to abolish the graduation system.

@@SmilesMaySpeak Not really a "fixed" fixed unit. More like a "flexible" unit. Since Mark is also part of SuperM and he and Haechan are part of 127, Dream was restructured to be more, well, flexible.

But when they say that Dream is a fixed unit it means they the members won’t have to graduate anymore and leave the group they will stay 7 from now on. Unless you know SM pulls one on us and decide to add members instead of making another new group as one can never tell lol.

When a member reaches 20 years old, they graduate from NCT DREAM and supposedly leave the group and move to a different NCT unit. (NCT 127, NCT U or if SM makes a new unit). As you can see, we nctzens didnt like this at all cuz that would mean NCT DREAM will disappear... But it did really happen. When Mark turned 20 in 2018, he didnt promote with NCT DREAM anymore throughout 2019 and 2020. But now its a fixed unit. He's finally back. After petitions and messages to SM entertainment, finally, SM officially announced that they will abandon the "graduation system" and make NCT DREAM a fixed unit. During those years that Mark wasnt in NCT DREAM anymore, the rest of the remaining members performed the songs "BOOM" and "RIDING" as 6 only.
