"Can You Handle the Tooth?" is a wordplay where the word "truth" is replaced with "tooth" to evoke contextual humour. The sides of the stool are hand illustrated with comical and funny consequences of bad oral health in a satirical style. Different types of emotions are on display ranging from quirky, jealousy, embarrassment, and acceptance. Some of the scenes are recreated from real life experiences of the artists as they were growing up.
Marrying art and oral health, the Charity Tooth Stools project aims to raise awareness of the importance of oral health in Singapore. To bring this project to life, 25 NYP students applied their artistic flair to uniquely design and paint 13 fibreglass stools. Shaped in the form of a tooth, these stools can be functionally used in offices, clinics or homes, or aesthetically displayed as decorative art pieces.
