What a brilliant conversation. The way Kenyans are suffering and the economy is low. Please God help us with this economy and there has been problems with the cost of living, education and health. By the way Mr Nderitu is like an economist talking about the economy and the president has been doing a shoddy job for this country like for instance the economists told him to improve this country's economy and he did the opposite but he is now stabilizing and he has borrowed money from IMF and right now the government is broke that its now focusing on health that the way it's going to pay healthcare workers
I am a staunch supporter of Kenya kwanza but I like listening to this guy...he speaks sense. Yes, Ruto should give citizens direct support n relief lije direct subsidy of fuel n unga instead of creating CAS positions
It amazes me how people conflate the cost of the much vilified CAS posts with economic policy the cost for a year of CAS is ksh 500m a year... Uhuru' ill-fated Unga subsidy cost ks8 billion for one month..and fuel about the same a month... Hii githafu people talk about inaingiana wapi??? If Ruto had appointed 800 cas, then this well flogged false equivalence narrative would make sense.
@@wakawaka5131u must be rich that 500 million in wastage does not bother u. I'm sure you have heard take care of the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves
The debate started very well, Gov Nderitu handling the issues related to cost of living aptly. Towards the end the panellists started asking mundane questions, the Kenyan way. I am sad.
Inflation is directly driven by government increase on taxes that impacts production costs whether imports or not. Moi and Kibaki governments used parastatals to curb production costs. Recent governments have basically privatized and eating through taxes and levy's that do not make it to the coffers.
With all due respect to the Governor, as a country, we have the capacity to be self-sufficient when it comes to food. Growing up in the 70s, we cultivated and stored our own food reserves and we were ok. What you're talking about is nothing but politics, business and greed!
@@ggke7802You cannot eliminate middlemen boss. The concept of middleman or woman is 99% of global business. Someone identifies a mismatch of prices and takes advantage of the situation. Like how mitumbas are cheap in UG, yet they pass through Kenya. You dont need a business degree to see this point. Its very obvious. Same with cartels.
@@AnalystToshIts not about the increase in population. Its about governments and their policies and practices not adapting to the increase in population, change in climate etc etc. And our nabii will not improve that situation one iota.
@@Kittygacha_playz I agrée… Govts never adapted to change, in fact people in power have contributed heavily to the -ve outlook we have today… this Govt will make it worse
The problem is mixing politics and protests. The protests should have been spontaneous originating from the hustlers. Just like the BBI which was initiated from the top and thus declared unconstitutional. How can a Governor for example intiate protestt.
If the talks is about subsidizing food what about long term solutions. We had this so called subsidized in place last year but no one felt them.I think the government need space work
I might be the only person who doesn't understand what the gentleman is talking about.Too much contradiction. Are these cost of living problems solvable even by a peaceful demonstration? Is our constitution so defective that all these economic and political issues cannot be handled through the Judiciary and Parliament so much that Obasanjo becomes our savior? Thanks CT for constantly pulling these "experts and honorables"back to earth as they keep talking themselves into the stratoshere where their minds reside.
Kenyan's should fire their legislatures as this is where such issues of national security (food security) should be resolved. They advocate for their benefits but not normal mwananchi benefits. The honorable is in part responsible because he does participate in partisan politics.
There is 34 million kenya unemployment and 600 000 business closed. Massive poverty and inequality and rampant corruption. Poorer Kenyans will became thuggish and gangsterrish and revolutionize kenya yote.
Much as I have alot of respect for PLO Lumumba I still have a problem when I ask myself what he has ever achieved for Kenya or Kenyans that we can even talk about.

Kenyans would appreciate subsidies. Why? atleast they can see their tax is coming back rather than being stolen. Cut down expenditures! ex: whittle down state officers, counties, etc
What happened to Ndetist Murithi, I worked for him as consultant when he was a minister/ps in the ministry of trade at telespost plaza, and brilliant and above board, surprisingly he now speaks Azimio language and nothing else.
@@mourice1669 My jinga friend. I have land. I dont need to go to a shithole hotel or go to a shop selling GMO garbage when i can grow my own clean healthy food. BILA PESA!!! Yaani if Kenyans think like you we as a nation are going nowhere with your myopic thinking. Pole sana.
No serious leader should talk of subsidies. Where would the money to fund peoples fuel and food their stomachs come from? seriously? Subsidies and cash transfers only work in and apply in situations of disasters due to unforeseen circumstances. If the cost of food or fuel persists for years, where would the funds to subsidize be derived from? All the money a government spends is obtained by just two sources 1. Tax, 2.Borrowing.and subsidies would have to come from the same sources. Very populist, dishonest and shallow
@@kennedykariukin We are beyond topics. It is facts and logic. Taxes do not lower cost of living, wherever you got such a weird idea is tour own imagination. The taxes reduce borrowing, or stops the borrowing or pays the accumulating debts. Cost of living has only one solution, spend less and produce or create what you need. It is not rocket science. Unless you are talking about shakahola and witchcraft.
