How did you decide the ranges for shrubs versus other vegetation? Do trees and grass generally have a higher NDVI?

Hey! I am an urban planning student, therefore i use these data as a user. Do you use Radiometric Calibration on each bands' central wavelength? And do you think its necessary or not considering i am an urban planning student and not geodesy student

Can we clip NDVI data(after creating) only to our study area? or we need to make it seperately? you showed study area later with clipped NDVI. how to do it if i dont want to repeat the whole process but want to clip it only to my study area?

Its very simple. You can clip your study area before the operation or after as well. Just go to spatial analyst tool, then Extraction, Extraction by Mask.. You may watch the following video how to extract study area from Image ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JMGvmDeW1-0.html

Why is the gray level value of my Landsat 8 bands (low - high) after downloading not from 0 like your image but it is a different value from 0? Is your image pre-processed?

Dear sir, do you used pre-processing data of landsat 8 which u did in qgis. When I try to open the qgis corrected images then the images will not appear and the value of image index exceed no. 1 in both high and low index

if my study area had more then 50 LS tiles, then how can I calculate NDVI for so many tiles. is it possible to mosaic them first and then calculate? and if so, then i have to mosaic separately for different bands.?

@@aryalin6083 What I did was to apply a color classification so, anything below -1 was set as -1 and anything above 1 was 1.

IF my study area comes in two tile then do we need to NDVI separately one each tile and then we need wo mosaic bother tile to extract the study area?

First you need to mosaic and then perform NDVI.

How did you get threshold value for waterbody, land ?

NDVI values are ranging from -1 to 1. Very low value of NDVI corresponds to barren areas of rock, sand, snow, cloud etc. Moderate values represent shrub and grassland while high value indicates temperate and tropical rainforests. Bare soil is represented with NDVI values which are closest to 0 and water bodies are represented with negative NDVI values. You can classify following the NDVI classes; -1 = Water Body 0 = Bare Soil, Rock, Sand and Snow, Cloud 0.2-0.3 = Shrub and Grassland 0.3-0.5 = Sparse and Unhealthy Forest >0.5 = Dense and Healthy Forest Hope it will help you.
